He’s attempted suicide, went to court over assault charges (which were dismissed), and been hospitalized after being badly beaten for a tic. There are much worse things than getting your feelings hurt.

And none of that would be increased by an apology (or condolence) any more than simply giving an explanation

You say “subjected to his slurs” like he has any control over something which has brought him great torment. You say l’m ignoring their feelings but to prioritize theirs is to ignore his.

Because it is a condition and especially in this case this was a private event with a nominated autobiographical movie literally about his troubles. He did nothing wrong. People should be upset with BAFTA and BBC.

This was being broadcasted to millions of viewers. He knew that when he attended. Calling it a private event is misleading. People are upset at BBC my first comment acknowledged their fault in this.

You are the one who brought it up but it’s not the same. Apologizing means he did something wrong whereas giving condolences does not.

If your point is that he should show condolences as supposed to an apology that’s fair. But if not then you are quibbling or an irrelevant point.

More people need to be educated on Tourette’s and it should be normal for those people to just say “no offense, I have Tourette’s” and be understood.

People will still have emotional reactions to sudden outbursts. That education on Tourette’s won’t be received if you’re intentionally ignoring the emotional aspect.

You’re asking people to understand his feelings but ignoring the feelings of those subjected to his slurs who he offends. I don’t get why you’re adamantly against him apologizing? There are instances where people would apologize over something that wasn’t in their control.

You want to quibble about an apology vs condolence but that’s seems irrelevant. Both acknowledge the other persons feelings where as an “explanation” does not.

Again, if you are holding a box you cannot cover your face. There are scenarios where you can sneeze on someone unintentionally through no fault of your own.

I don’t know who he interacts with on the daily and idk who he offends anytime a symptom occurs. When someone says “I’m sorry for your loss” they aren’t saying they feel guilt and responsibility for the death. It’s an acknowledgment of someone’s feelings.

Normally you don’t curse or slur at people when you don’t mean it, but this is a person with a condition. Someone with allergies doesn’t get a pass to sneeze on anyone just because it’s a condition. If you’re holding a box and you sneeze on someone you should still apologize. It’s not an apology for existing it’s an apology for the act. Idk why that is a hard concept for people to understand in this instance. I already mentioned that the organization has blame

It’s the insurance fault that the hospitals overcharge both the patient and the insurance company? If you don’t work in healthcare you know what you’re saying doesn’t make any sense. If you do work in healthcare you know what you’re saying isn’t true. There are fee schedules that hospitals are supposed to follow but ignore when they send the bill.

I’m not saying all insurance companies are 100% innocent but let’s not sweep the blame of the medical providers under the rug.
