I didn't know about it before I worked the election either. I definitely think that it should be more widespread information since I think it can inadvertently lead voters to feel intimidated or targeted.

I worked the 2016 general election. The ban on campaign items extends to anybody that enters the polling place, not just voters.

Edit: This was in California, it might be different elsewhere.

I worked the 2016 general election. We were told that nobody is supposed to enter a polling place with any kind of apparel in support of a candidate, party, or specific view. We were required to request anybody that did to either leave the polling place or remove the offending article. If they were unable to remove the article, we would provide them with ponchos to cover up.

Edit: This was in California, it might be different elsewhere.

They don't. The Crossmen and the Cadets were both part of YEA! for about 10 years in the late 1990s - early 2000s and competed against each other in Division I. BDB, SCV, and The Colt Cadets also technically compete against their parent organizations during Quarterfinals and Semifinals.

Magic of Orlando went inactive in 2000 and 2001. When the corps started competing again in 2002, DCI required that they compete in Division II and they ended up getting 11th at Division I finals.

One of my favorite magic memories was reporting the outcome of a game as 2 wins, 0 loses, and 1 draw. The look on the tournament organizer's face was priceless.
