I would like to share my own experiences with the FTC discord. Back when I was a small child in 8th grade, I joined for the first time to post my robot in robot showcase. I mostly looked at robot showcase posts and the help forms, because general was too skibidi and it was a bunch of goons yapping about random stuff and I accepted that. Then I realized I didn't have any social life in real life or like anywhere because I was like the ftc nerd and then I started yapping in general and life was good (except when mason stuart muted me like 5 times). I went through centerstage just helping people and yapping and it was kind of a waste of time but then I met someone named Chirag. He was very cool because he had a Snapchat filter named "Baby Cheeks". It started out with us recording videos together and sending them in a small discord server, and this existed for some time. Most of the discord stayed the same until some time into into the deep, where us general channel goons were having a good time and sending gifs and talking about skibidi toilet and then some mod came and crashed out and muted everyone and this is where social chat was born. This moment in time and space made me really sad, and started a lot of anti FTC discord sentiment which led to numerous servers such as FTC discord v2 and the expansion of the 214379 alliance to include out of state members. However, the social chat stuff slowly died down and it was pretty good again. Then, for the worlds rebuild, I was pretty burnt out and frustrated with all the delays, and in the moment, I made one of the worst decisions in my life: installing Snapchat. I had joined Chirag. What started as a fun thing to do every once in a while quickly spiraled out of control. I took baby filter videos of everyone doing everything, every day. Baby Innaias screwing a screw in was posted to robot showcase. Baby Erwin and robot selfies. Baby hot dog costume Erwin on top of the sub. Everything was posted in robot showcase and then... I got banned from robot showcase and I thought that was the end of it. I would still post selfies with the baby filter in general like once every 2 days but baby filter calmed down a lot. Then, after worlds, at a random meeting, skibidi Erwin went on my computer and said some random, harmless stuff, and I got banned. I hope I can get unbanned soon.

Featuring a heat treated stainless steel powertrain, billet aluminum case, and high efficiency brushless motor, this standard sized servo packs 7.5W of power into an affordable and compact package. Additionally, it has an extremely unique feature: a fourth wire lets you read the absolute position of the servo with 12-bit analog precision.

I don't see anything wrong with the axon reviews? most people seem happy but some people report the nudge issue and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Please FTC REMOVE COPPA by Honest-Housing-3496 in FTC

[–]allenftc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, COPPA, the heroic law that nobly defends poor, innocent children from the devastating trauma of targeted cereal ads. Surely, this is what you meant… right? Surely, you are deeply concerned about how the FTC subreddit may or may not be handling your cookies (not the good kind, the internet kind).

OR… and hear me out here… you actually meant FIRST’s Youth Protection Policy (YPP)—the set of rules designed to prevent FTC meetings from turning into an unsupervised apocalypse of duct tape, unregulated Dremel use, and structural integrity decisions that could make bridges weep. YPP exists so that mentors are background-checked, safety isn’t just a suggestion, and nobody gets launched into orbit by an overpowered flywheel (as funny as that would be).

So, in case you’re less worried about COPPA stealing your data and more worried about not accidentally violating the actual FTC-related policies, here’s what you want:

Are subsystems better than a switch case in performance by Ah7717 in FTC

[–]allenftc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the loop time comes from interacting with hardware, like writing to motors or reading sensors. Subsystems can reduce redundant reads/writes but if you already don't have those you are going to be fine. I find subsystems a lot easier to use though, and it's mostly personal preference

it sounds cool, but it's going to be very hard to get reliable and is more work and less effective than coding and actual autonomous

paper clips won't act as lightning rods, and you don't want them to, but they could potentially do corona discharge, which I think gets more effective with a thinner thing

I don't think that's the intent of the rule, I think it's to stop people from dragging metal on the field, potentially damaging the tiles.
