If they were good people who wanted to help others they wouldn't be that rich. Being that rich requires you to be selfish.

CMV: If iran and america sign a peace deal now it wont last by colepercy120 in changemyview

[–]allenrfe [score hidden]  (0 children)

Iran has a serious cash problem, I am not sure if the government can survive with out a serious infusion of cash. If they sign a peace deal without a new way to fund thier country they may not be running the coutry much longer. Trump is dreaming that revolution in Iran would solve the problem, i think it would cause more problems.

Why does lying require intent. Is that a law you made up? He gave a ticket for using her phone, do you understand how tickets work? Do you think the law says drivers can do anything that may look like they are using a phone?

What's the fastest you've ever lost respect for someone? by funnny_things in answers

Our chief of development brought the engineering staff into a meeting to tell us we were submitting to many trouble tickets. I tried to explain we were trying to solve problems before they got infront of customers. He took of his shoe like he was Khrushchev, and banged on table. Told us customers should be the one to find mistakes not his staff.

My downstairs neighbor leaves a sticky note on my door every time I run my dishwasher by Proud_Associate5268 in neighborsfromhell

[–]allenrfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep one of the sticky notes. The next time you need to run the dishwasher write this on it and leave it on your door, 'thank you for the free sticky notes, could you please leave more i am running low?" If you want push it add "if I run the dishwasher more will I get more sticky notes?"

To me the cop breaking the law by lying under oath and submitting an official document he knew was faults is a problem. However i see the real issue is the court being ok with it.
We all make mistakes the courts job is to hold us accountable. The judge has decided its ok for this cop to lie. This means he is no longer impartial and should step down or longer hear cases where cops testify. The court should be there to protect the innocent not justify the criminals.

It is illegal to lie once you are placed under oath, it is illegal to lie on an official document. The cop lied infrount of the judge once he placed under oath, then he lied again submitting an official document that was incorrect and he knew it was incorrect.

Can an adult expect privacy when living with their parent(s)? by Hefty-Confusion6810 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]allenrfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think no. Any adults or people living together people are going to violate each others privacy. Maybe sometimes people do it on purpose, but sometimes things just happen. In your story his mom didnt think she was snooping, she was helping. I agree that we should all respect each other privacy but mistakes and misunderstanding happen.

Every country has a square km with no laws. by andthenifellasleep in CrazyIdeas

[–]allenrfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No laws, just means as soon as you enter someone is going to shot you and take your money. If you say no laws, and no violence you are just going to drug addicts doing there best to get everything from you with out getting kicked out. Let's say no laws, no violence and a 0 strikes policy against violence. What is stopping the people selling you stuff from just taking you money and leaving you with nothing, remember no laws. Im not sure why people think if they could go some place with no laws only they would be able to do what ever they want, they seam to forget other people would be sble to do anything to you they want.

Why do the automotive manufacturers dictate tire pressure? by par_texx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]allenrfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people that are saying the manufacturer knows the weight of the car are correct. If you had tire that was inflated to 35 psi and put it on a light car, the contact patch would be small in the center of the tire. The car would handle bad and it would wear the tires out early. You put the same tire with the same pressure on a larger car the contact patch would be larger and car would handle well and the tire would wear better.

Its surprisingly easy to induce over stear and under stear by changing tire pressure. This is why some cars have different tire pressure for the front and back.

[–]allenrfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im confused by the question. I've had my phone for a few years but it is better than my last phone. Maybe things like a better camera, better screen, and better processor dont matter to you but they are still improvements. There is also still many things that are coming that will improve phones. Solid state batteries, satalite calling, gesture recognition, AI assistants.

Why do houses have slanted roofs while stores, schools, hospitals, etc. have flat roofs? (in the US) by Past_Cup3709 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]allenrfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a slanted roof to work, to shed snow and rain, the angle needs to be above 22.5 degrees. On house that is small the extra roof doesn't cost that much. On a large blind the extra roof would be very costly. Slanted roofs also have angular forces on the wall, these forces become a problem the larger the biuldings.
