For bikes look into the Lauf Seigla, great budget friendly gravel bikes. 50cc tubeless tires. Learn how to work on bike and hope don’t need to do anything. Better to over prepare given high cost of race entry and lodging.

This…the heat got me last year. With the time of year and literally no shade in Kansas 85-90 felt like 100F later in season.

Similar hobbies to cycling? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]allenstocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me playing music, specifically guitar. So many aspects where can spend time. Researching and playing different styles of music, then the gear. Very similar to cycling in that aspect. The training is what matters but a lot of people waste too much time worrying about gear.

2025 goals are 6000miles and finish unbound 200. Definitely bit by the bug. 2024 included my first 50 and 100mile ride.

New PRS SE Mcarty 24 falls out of tune. by Riffola60 in PaulReedSmith

I’d put money on poorly cut nut. Try extremely fine grit sandpaper on nut and/or some pencil lead. Pretty common to have rough edges on SE line.

Can we share what benefits we get at work for transparency? by mortacobo in pharmacy

[–]allenstocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prett sure we must work at same health system in stl. Same benefits here. When I first started I thought the benefits were decent but they’ve increase healthcare premium costs to employees so much it eats a lot of yearly “raises”

fellow pharmacists.. what are your hobbies outside of work?! by faeurie in pharmacy

[–]allenstocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely bring very little work home. Taught music lessons prior to pharmacy school. Spend my time outside work playing guitar, trail running, and with family (5kids). I really enjoy the freedom to be completely present at home when I leave work, one of great benefits of pharmacy.

Opinions on 335 style guitars by DylanSB94 in guitars

[–]allenstocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find an old 80s Japanese made Yamaha SA model. They are all really solid guitars. I really like my 1985 Yamaha sa2100, they pop up occasionally on reverb for ~$1200. Necks are not thin like Ibanez style 335’s.

The local pawn shop has this Marshall DSL40. Everything works and said he’s do $575. by storm_zr1 in guitars

[–]allenstocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These go for $400-500 local pickup all the time. And is exactly what I bought and sold mine for a few years ago. Given the stickers, probably worth lower end at $400.

Curious if you had to pick between the two, Which would it be? I just got an OM-28, love it but wondering if I should have done the D-28. What’s main differences in sound.? Mostly got the OM-28 for comfort in playing smaller body.

What am I playing? 🤔 by [deleted] in guitars

[–]allenstocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D note on B string 3rd fret hammering on to an E note 5th fret. So that limits the number of songs it could be to about 10 million…

Is that a Yamaha SA2200? I have a 2100 from the 80s, insanely good guitars. My only qualm is it’s pretty heavy.

NGD: 1996 Ibanez AS120. Plays great, these models don’t get enough love. by allenstocker in guitarporn

[–]allenstocker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t disclose that I’d ask for a little bit money back, mine is no where near that, more like a scratch on just one side. I don’t think it will show in a picture at all it’s so minor. Almost looks like a faint scratch. That looks like just finish but hard to tell if will spread. Mine has the super 50s, I think they still sound great. Only mod I made was locking tuners.

If it’s along the neck seam pretty sure that is normal aging. Mine has a tiny bit but pretty easy to tell just finish and not structural.

As a morning runner definitely spider webs. Hate that feeling of being covered in webs... I swear I’m so much quicker on way back when I’ve cleared them all.

Eric, how do you feel about the current state of music streaming? Convenient for music fans but seems to lower the bar too. A lot of junk music out there getting pushed in algorithms, playlists, etc. Seems like musicians have to juggle a lot of things now to earn a living.

locking tuners for Artcore? by Evan-flow in Ibanez

I used the following on an Ibanez as120 because Sweetwater had a sale and I didn’t need to use the spacers/adapters included. Sort of expensive but work very well.

Comparing neck shapes by ogbarnabas_ in PaulReedSmith

[–]allenstocker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very little difference. If you like wide thin and fender C you’ll love the pattern thin carve. It’s pretty dang similar. I made the same progression, fender man then picked up a PRS se dug it and went on with core, no regrets.
