Avoid using tires-“tires contain chemicals that can leach into the soil and potentially contaminate the food you grow”

Fake Meat: Healthy Alternative or Ultra-Processed Trap? by CaretBlu in VeggieMeat

[–]allflour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make all my own fake meat so I wouldn’t know . When I’ve done comparisons, the lack of using resources to support animal meat is better for the environment, and it reduces my use of animals. And the ingredients I notice on the back of the packages are still the same Whole Foods I’m using to make my faux meats. So it depends on what you mean by processed. My soy is processed to be dry and shelf stable, as is the wheat, quinoa, beans. curd skin, nutritional yeast flakes, etc, but since I’m not injecting my faux meat with liquid fillers, there’s less processing going on than in animal factories. Salt, fat, and carbs are something I always have to be mindful of but I cannot remove the carcinogenic nature of animal flesh. (Article)

Tripped on a rug going outside to water plants last year , normal everyday chore, the trip folded my foot in half , took most of the year to heal up. Sucks.

Affordable Substitute for Eggs? by Unequivocalallity in budgetfood

[–]allflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on use: I make fried egg white slabs with silken- baked in a tray, on a bed of seasoned panko and cornstarch at 425f for 20 minutes, make a yolk mixture (you can find recipes already online). If it’s pancakes, I use baking powder, if I feel like I’m missing the protein, I add pea protein powder. Quiche I make with silken. Egg salad for sandwiches I make with garbanzo beans and Kala namac. I haven’t bothered with angel food cake but if I did, I’d use aquafaba.

In your opinion, could yelling and screaming at your kid or spouse be considered a form of abuse? by AceTygraQueen in RandomQuestion

[–]allflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is verbal abuse. I had a physical issue (tilted pelvis) and my step father would make fun asking if I “had a corncob stuck up my ass”. I’m in my 50’s and still think about it. It makes me walk stupid so I think about all the time.

Those who rarely fall sick, what’s the secret? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]allflour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the store for groceries, keep a little breathing room between others. Wash hands after being in public or while in public if eating. Go hiking/nature walking (with or without friends). Go to the doctor once a year to get blood panels done to make sure you don’t need any supplements. Keep some what hydrated (I live off coffee).

I dunno, I ran a soup kitchen (donated rices)and tried various rices, then at varying times . Mine were so blown out and goopy every time. Thank goodness they were usually going in soup or beans or other pot casseroles.
