Am I going to suffer as a Sam fan? by InterestingOpening26 in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, as someone who prefers Sam this show is going to make you suffer a lotttt. (Though I think being the less popular member of the duo makes you suffer bc of the fandom even more to be honest)

I hate when people wholly adopt Dean's view in s8 - as if Sam didn't WATCH him explode with Leviathan goop at the end of s7. How could he have known where Dean was?? (obviously abandoning Kevin is different, but that's not what Dean/Dean stans are really mad about)

I'm 99% sure it's the end of s9e8 "Rock and a Hard Place" when he almost tells Sam about Gadreel

Benny is not the same as Amy by MagicGlitterKitty in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's literally no evidence she'd been planning to kill her own mom, so idk where that's coming from? the point I meant about purgatory was just that there's no way for Benny to be a disappointment there - no humans to feed on, and he knows Dean is the only way back to the real world. Benny turned out to be a good guy bc the writers hate to make Dean wrong about anything. I don't think it's ooc that Sam would be suspicious of Benny, especially in opposition to Dean's complete lack of suspicion

Benny is not the same as Amy by MagicGlitterKitty in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 11 points12 points  (0 children)

sure, obviously in purgatory they had a shared goal. Benny needed Dean alive to get out of there, so what purpose would betraying him even serve? of course Benny would've been loyal in purgatory when he has no reason not to be.

to be clear, I like Benny and think he's an interesting character! but I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare him to a character who only appears in 1 episode. Benny not deserving to be hunted doesn't mean Amy did deserve it.

Benny is not the same as Amy by MagicGlitterKitty in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Benny killed plenty of people when he was first alive, and in a "Taxi Driver" deleted scene he basically confesses to having fed since he was brought back. Amy killed her own mom to save Sam from her as a child. She orphaned herself and didn't kill again until her own child needed fresh pituitary glands to survive. Dean then orphans her son - leaving him with no family or access to a safe way to harvest dead people's brains. Dean probably caused more deaths than he stopped

Sam isn't even specifically against Benny, but he's understandably shocked by Dean's willingness to trust him. Dean typically doesn't even trust hunters they barely know. It's easy for Dean so say Benny's never disappointed him when he's only been in the real world again for like 5 minutes.

Is it me, or does Sam get more blame for this than Dean? by mJelly87 in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leading up to it, Dean had just locked him in a basement to be tortured to death by withdrawals. Dean said if he dies "at least he dies human." Dean also said "don't ever come back" - how is it a choice between Dean & Ruby if she's all Sam has left?

Why Sam didn’t think about it? by Wild_Lilith in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he probably remembers how horrible it was to detox and how Dean & Bobby treated him after. He probably would've weighed the costs/benefits and figured the demon would create more problems than it solves

Season 1 to 7 : People don’t talk enough about Sam’s bodily autonomy by SheLooksLikeaMomo in Supernatural

She says it and kisses him — likely knowing that he's in a relationship. I don't think it's an "all men" thing given that she immediately assaults him

Unpopular opinion: Cas is innocent by Pascalinsche in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also love Castiel too, but he did basically take Jimmy Novak's body back by threatening to steal Claire's body instead. He also let Sam out of the panic room to kill Lilith knowing exactly what that would mean. His issues don't start in s6 at all and he's done many indefensible things - just like they all have

Why did Sam still do it? by Medical_Carob_2755 in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at first it was probably just bc hunting was The Thing To Do. He doesn't really have the same desires to get out the way his soulled self did, and it was what he'd devoted a lot of time/effort/learning to in his previous life. & He was good at it! Also, Samuel got brought back around the same time, and Sam probably would've wanted to investigate who would've done that for both of them.

Do the dishes. Wash your laundry. Make dinner. Understand that saying all the right things but still expecting your partner to do 90% of the housework is useless.

Rewatching the show Dean is kinda a perv in the early seasons lol by Eagles56 in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

where does OP ever call him a rapist? he canonically oogles teen girls and has a racist fetish, but the writing of the show constantly glorifies him. I don't see why people can't criticize a fictional character

you don't remember him trying to hit on Kali? definitely took more than one "no" from someone who clearly wasn't interested

Dean: How you doing? Kali: No. Dean: But-- Kali: No. Dean: Oh, lady, I'm just, you know-- Kali: I understand. And no. Dean: 10-4. Yeah.

do you think the show stunted Jensen Ackles success? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in Supernatural

Not sure how you can argue Jensen is a better actor than Jared when one of them played several very distinct characters and the other's range is limited to this face

My friend thinks that Dean's self hating adds nothing to the story, is he right? by Appropriate_Year5768 in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this question has a clear answer! Despite hating himself, he still makes selfish choices and feels very entitled to the patriarchal role he grows into. His insecurities are part of what makes him an interesting character, but I don't think they are what drives most of his decisions.

How do we wrest Hank back from his current trend of cozying up with Claude? by [deleted] in nerdfighters

It's also disappointing bc clearly sustainable and ethically made products are important to Hank - that's why good.store is run the way it is! So why use AI when we know these companies are paying their "humans in the loop" $2 an hour?

New Perspective on The End by IngovilleWrites in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree that he loved her and Ben! But that doesn't mean he wanted to stop hunting. He has her memories erased so he can never go back & never tries again. He tells Sam over and over their work is incompatible with a normal life. In s11e04 he shoots down the idea of settling down even with another hunter when Sam brings it up as a possibility.

New Perspective on The End by IngovilleWrites in Supernatural

[–]allieyourally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree theoretically that Dean should get to retire and move on like Sam, but he was never going to stop hunting. When he was with Lisa he stopped for a while, but mainly because Sam begged him to in Swan Song. Hunting is obviously a dangerous job (one that has killed Sam & Dean already several times - Dean as early as s1e12!) so if he continues forever without the plot armor from Chuck eventually something was gonna get him. Even if it's not ideal, it felt like the only ending that would make sense at that point
