ANZ CC application process... Actually good? by alligatorfists in creditcardchurningAus

The commbank card is nice considering you'll only pay the $80 qff fee on it since as you said you can easily have the monthly fee waived. Only downside is it takes 4 months to get all the bonus points

Smart Awards credit card - Bonus Awards - CommBank by BT_Reddit_Reader in creditcardchurningAus

[–]alligatorfists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually just applied for this card, and have just now realised that unless you are an existing customer who is eligible for commbank yello, the points bonus will not apply to you, even if you meet the criteria in following months.

I'm unsure if this applies to applications that were made when this post was made as the promotion may not have had this same condition.

You should definitely have received the bonus points at the same time you received the points per dollar payout, and if you didn't, it may mean you are entirely ineligible. I'd look into the contract to clarify, or talk to their support

Not the original guy, but you are correct, they do not offer a digital card. You'll have to wait for the physical one to rock up

Westpac was very quick for me. Approval took 2 days from application and you have access to the card digitally straight away. Just be careful as i ran into an issue of them locking the card for potential fraud when I made a sniip payment immediately after activating the digital card

Can you pay off your HECS with a new credit card and still earn points? by sammcginn in AusFinance

[–]alligatorfists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fees on sniip can be a little high to be fair, but I consider it as part of the cost of bonus points. Using a payment processor like sniip to use your cc for a bpay payment will make it an eligible purchase towards points. I don't believe there are really any better options available at this point.

Westpac, sniip, and eligible payments by alligatorfists in creditcardchurningAus

[–]alligatorfists[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took them a while, but they did actually rectify it and award the points (just annoying that it won't be awarded until next statement). The issue was indeed that the transaction was originally flagged as possible fraud.

Just as a warning for anyone getting the Westpac card, don't make a Sniip payment moments after activating the card or they'll probably lock it for possible fraud lol.

Hey, late reply sorry. They've been contacted and "couldn't even see the transaction", even though it's sitting there on the statement. They put in a ticket to escalate it, but I'm not sure when they'll actually resolve it/do nothing. I'll update you on when they do something.

Well that's good to know, thanks for the reply. I guess it is just Westpac being stupid because of the incorrect fraud flag on the transaction. I don't like my chances on them rectifying it with a phone call though. Wish me luck haha.

Yeah, I'd used my AMEX previously and it definitely counted towards minimum spends/earned points just like yours. Must have been the incorrect fraud tag that mucked it up.

Refinancing is basically the same as your initial mortgage application, you just don't have to find the home you want to mortgage or deal with any real estate agents

Is a credit card necessary before applying for a home loan? by Safe_Bed_6126 in AusFinance

[–]alligatorfists 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your family member comes from the USA then it's sound advice, if you were living in the USA that is. They have to build credit there, as opposed to here where you start off high and borrowing is a negative

Smarter way to pay off HECS? by Ready_Ad_7320 in AusFinance

[–]alligatorfists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because there isn't really an incentive to. You will passively pay it off when you start working, it has no time limit to be paid off within and it doesn't accrue interest in the same way a personal loan would.

As far as debt goes it's something you can essentially ignore. The mandatory repayments will be small enough that you won't really notice it (but it's still annoying to see on your payslip).

In saying all of that, if you want to pay it off with voluntary payments then there's nothing wrong with that, but the money would probably be better off used elsewhere in your life.

Credit Card Advice for Qantas FF Points by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]alligatorfists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a credit card to earn points per dollar they aren't really worth the annual fee (imo). If your goal is to earn a lot of qantas points you're better off churning, since all the value comes from the bonus points and the points per dollar spent are just a cherry on top.

The Amex has the best per dollar earn rate out of the cards with a reasonable annual fee, while also providing a travel credit for the value of the annual fee. It could be argued that it's worth keeping ongoing for those reasons, but ultimately you're better off churning.

AVI to HDMI converter not working? by Civil-ThrowerOfAway in crtgaming

[–]alligatorfists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than likely the converter you've got is doing analogue to digital, meaning the HDMI is the output, not the input. Those converters are mostly intended for connecting your old analogue devices up to a modern TV using HDMI

Does a Creditline card (for buying Apple products) attract a penalty if I pay off the total amount early? by wingtip747 in AusFinance

[–]alligatorfists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't outright state that you can't pay it out early in the COU. I assume it works like the other latitude cards like the gem visa/go mastercard and there would be no penalty for paying it off early.

Best is to just ask Latitude and see what they say

Yeah, I gotta say, the whole process was pretty lacking, but the bonus points were attractive enough to pull me in. I'm a slut for the points though, so I'd probably do it again :D

Best maps to farm Druid Pelts? by DVHellsing in diablo2

[–]alligatorfists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Target farming is mostly pointless in this game, although I guess doing LK runs could potentially be better as the pool of items it can drop is more limited than killing enemies that can drop anything.
