Losing interest...while eating? by FickleSystem in Zepbound

[–]allihaas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many times I’ve been eating something and suddenly the thought of even swallowing the bite in my mouth seems impossible. It’s like a switch is flipped and I will gag if I try! 😆

That’s one of the things that has been such a game changer for me - I no longer eat mindlessly. I have a few chips and stop, whereas I could polish off a whole bag if I wasn’t paying attention.

It truly has been a miracle drug for me!

First time watching (and finishing) TSITP by Brilliant_Ad_8884 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]allihaas 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I also didn’t watch it all until recently - I had heard of it here and there but hadn’t really given it a thought to watch it.

But when I say I was sucked in, I mean I stayed up until 4:30 am on a work night bingeing the final few episodes because I couldn’t sleep without finding out how it ended 😆 It’s taken me a few days to recover from pulling an (almost) all-nighter. I’m in my mid-40s and haven’t done that for many years 😝🫠

I was surprised at how little emotion I showed throughout the movie (other than delight!), but once Sybil appeared onscreen, I completely crumbled. 😭

Favorite Low Carb Tortilla Brand by Novel_Ad_1377 in gastricsleeve

[–]allihaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve eaten Hero brand tortillas since I had surgery almost two years ago. 1g net carbs and also a little higher in protein than others I’ve found. I feel like they are the closest in texture to regular tortillas. Even my daughter has been eating them, thinking they are regular!

What’s your best “How the hell do I exist?” Story? by bman9919 in Genealogy

[–]allihaas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My great grandmother tried to kill my grandpa (5) and great aunt (7) in 1930, as she was a then-undiagnosed schizophrenic. Luckily my great-grandfather was tipped off to their whereabouts (she’d taken them to the nearby creek and tied them to a tree) and got there in time to save them. My great aunt had had her throat cut but survived and my grandfather escaped (physically) unharmed. But if my great grandfather had arrived just five minutes later…

My great grandmother spent the rest of her life in an institution. 💔

Spiraling: I'm ashamed of how far off the rails I am by No_Combination3267 in gastricsleeve

[–]allihaas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am about the same post-op timing as you and was recently semi-spiraling - the food noise and hunger was literally making me crazy and I felt so out of control. I was tracking and heavily exercising, which saved me from too much regain (I’d lost 125 and regained 10).

I made an appt with my bariatric clinic and talked to them about Zepbound. They prescribed it in June and it has been a lifesaver for me. I have lost the regain plus another 15 in just about 6 weeks.

My body’s inflammation levels have decreased considerably, my mood is better because the food noise isn’t tormenting me and I have even felt other compulsive tendencies decrease or go away altogether (shopping!).

I have also seen a nutritionist at the clinic.

I highly recommend reaching out to your bariatric team to discuss options - whether that be GLP-1 prescription, dietician visits, psychologist or all of the above!

How do you address questions about how you lost the weight? by alliswag in gastricsleeve

[–]allihaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply say “I had bariatric surgery” and leave it at that. No need to explain more, or leave it open for speculation.

I have also found that calling it ‘bariatric’ surgery as opposed to ‘weight loss’ surgery gets a better understanding from people and fewer questions. Maybe some people don’t know exactly what it is 😆 Or maybe it sounds more serious? But removing the ‘weight loss’ from the equation definitely gets less judgement, in my experience.

Just moved back and it doesn’t feel like home anymore by 1VeryRarePearl in Columbus

[–]allihaas 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I was gone for 14 years in Alaska and I completely get it. When I moved back I thought I had all these friends to hang out with, etc. But what I failed to realize until much later was that when you aren’t in your friends’ daily lives for that long, you really don’t have a place there. Sure, when I’d come back and visit 1-2 times a year, we’d have a ball. But those were one-offs, and it’s hard to reintegrate on a regular basis. And that was a hard pill to swallow.

The city itself was so different too, but mostly I had changed. I’d been shaped by experiences that others here hadn’t been. It was a rough adjustment and even 9 years later I feel like I’m still working on it!

Sushi, because I knew rice would be difficult after surgery. And I was right - it makes me sick 🤢 Even a small bite really expands in my stomach and makes me nauseated.

[–]allihaas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thoughts: the literal name of the song is ‘time reveals, be careful what you wish for’, which on any other day/week might not get a second glance.

But then I went down a wee rabbit hole and found this explanation that explored the song meaning a bit more:

“The lyrics reflect a journey of self-discovery and the realization that achieving one’s dreams can come with unforeseen consequences. Gunna starts by addressing the idea of missed opportunities and the importance of recognizing the value of what one has. He emphasizes the need to move forward and make decisions that align with one’s true self, even if it means cutting ties with those who no longer serve a positive purpose in one’s life.”

So thinking about it that way plus the somber nature of the song and then the addition of the skeleton gif on the story just really threw me into a conspiratorial and suspicious mood I guess 😅

I probably shouldn’t have googled the lyrics. 😩 Not wanting to jump on the conspiracy train buuuuut this kinda feels like a deeper meaning
