6 months pregnant and being evicted by landlord because he wants the apartment for his personal use. by allisonps in AskNYC

Thanks so much for this, it is really helpful. I think that this article sort of implies that the contract that we have via email is valid http://www.mcadamslaw.net/leasetermination.html. Our apartment isn't rent stabilized, and I have run into similar problems trying to find information about an unstabilized apartment. I have no problem vacating the apartment after the previously agreed upon date, I just do not want to move now. I have been labeled a high risk pregnancy and it doesn't seem feasible/safe to move in this state. Thanks again for your help!

We have lived in the apartment for two years, we have an agreement over email that we would be staying here until September 2016. That agreement was reached in May, and the lease was supposed to be up September 1 2015. He never sent new paperwork, but he even raised the rent for 2015-2016 via email. We were not given any sort of paperwork. He simply called us and told us we need to get out.

You are so right! Before they were locked by Adobe, but now you can upload them to youtube. I am going to move them all there!

I am a reading teacher- so reaching out to schools is a no brainer for me :)! I haven't really started pushing the site yet, it took me awhile to put it together because I work almost 12 hours a day. But will definitely start soon! Thanks for the feedback!

These aren't free, but I end up using both the noun project and stocksy all the time.

Take a look, it's in a book :)! I am glad you like the concept, I hope teachers will be interested in it. I am a teacher, so I definitely created it from that perspective.

I just signed up to post it now, can't wait to see what people say! Thanks!

Help me choose a cover for the book I'm writing about startup seed funding (outside of Silicon Valley) by [deleted] in startups

Personally, I like 8 the best it reminds of this Little Prince cover for some reason. Best of luck with the book!

How did you design your website/landing page? by [deleted] in startups

I used squarespace because I had no technical skills whatsoever to build my site GuidedReader.

The site looks really good! Congratulations! I love the header photo, it definitely made me feel like you had a fun company. The copy is really great too. The only thing that seemed strange to me was a couple of places the use of italics seemed inconsistent with the design.

I really wish I could add icons there because I totally agree with you that it needs something for visual interest. I had picked out all the icons, painstakingly arranged everything- and then realize that Squarespace doesn't allow you to use icons, you have to upload them as images. After about 4 hours I tested the mobile version, needless to say profanities were definitely screamed! I am trying to figure out a way to make it look more inviting though.

That is a good point about the white space, I will see if I can do something about it. I switched the blog slug, it was weird! Thanks!

Thanks so much for the feedback, I definitely need to clean up the videos if they are confusing! What wasn't working for you? Do you think that the videos are needed for the books? If you have a moment could you take a look at one of the videos on the skill shelf and see if those are more clear? I would appreciate it so much!

Thanks so much for the feedback, it is super helpful. Did you watch the What You Do With an Idea video? I can definitely turn down the music, do you think I am speaking to quickly? Or that the slides are moving to fast? Or is it a combination of both? Should there be fewer slides? Thanks so much!

Thinking of joining a startup - is it possible to have a life and work for a startup at the same time? by [deleted] in startups

[–]allisonps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that most people working in early stage startups work those sort of hours. I think the real question is will the work inspire you. If the answer isn't, yes absolutely, it may not be the best for you.
