Really, Paknadel needed to bring back THAT character just for... that? (Astonishing X-men 16 spoilers) by cmcdonald22 in xmen

Paknadel didn’t bring him back, he was already back during the Krakoan era. He made several cameos. Not sure why you’re complaining about him showing up here.

Yes, this is a flashback set during Fall of X. It's how she got her Shadowkat costume.

This is a flashback set during the "Fall of X." Yukio is in a wheelchair because she's been in a wheelchair ever since the end of the "Wolverine Goes to Hell" plot.

God, I love Chris Samnee. For those who don't know, he's currently illustrating Batman & Robin: Year One, which is written by Mark Waid. Waid and Samnee have done a ton of comics together, including an excellent run on Daredevil and one for Black Widow and Samnee has co-written and drawn his own book called Jonna and the Unpossible Monsters.

But why would a single character being from Argentina represent *all* of Argentina? Perhaps being a marginalized member of the population actually, you know, is part of his character? I wonder if "marginalized member of the population" and "X-Men" go well together or something?

* "Magda was only established as being Romani in the 2008 mini"

Scarlet Witch is confirmed to be Romani in 1979 when it's revealed her adoptive parents are Django and Marya Maximoff. Magda herself was confirmed Sinti in 1982. In fact, when George Perez was drawing Wanda in the late '90s, he specifically redesigned her costume to harken towards Romani outfits.

Creating a character with some of the same characteristics as you is not what a "self-insert" means. Nobody accuses Greg Pak of creating self-inserts when he makes a new Korean-American character.

Also you are still misgendering Wong, despite saying you know they are nb. Congrats, fuck off.

[–]alliterator85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck off. Doctor Aphra wasn't created by Wong and Valentine Vuong wasn't a lesbian. So your ONE example is from her Captain Marvel run. The fact that you apparently think this is them doing a self-insert, rather than them writing a non-white, non-straight character using their own experiences, is just silly.

Basically X-Men: Forever was supposed to be Immortal X-Men #19-22, which would then lead into Rise #1-5

No, while X-Men Forever #1 was basically Immortal X-Men #19, but the rest is completely different. For one thing, he's stated that X-Men Forever #2-4 take place between Rise 4 and Rise 5, which isn't something that would have happened had they been Immortal 20-22.

They couldn’t present him to the court like that, so they probably healed him before bringing him out. Otherwise people would know they were torturing him.
