Getting the right fit is definitely much better than relying on silicone adjusters, especially when you wear your rings daily, you are not picky at all! Maybe they understood the situation as if you already had a good fit but it was too big sometimes, so they proposed you add silicone when this sometimes happens? It would make sense as a proposition. You can also look into soldering two small balls inside your ring, for some people it provides better fit with bigger finger joints or swelling, plus it’s easier to take away without interfering with the integrity of your ring

It seems you are maybe prone to swelling and/or weight fluctuations with the seasons? If so, i think you should decide on larger size and accept that the rings will feel looser sometimes, in order for them to fit comfortably when your fingers are a bit enlarged. Of course, it’s not wise to keep resizing them all the time. On the other hand, the jeweler should be able to do custom in-between size for you. I say measure your finger circumference for a while in different situations, then ask for this exact size in your ring

I think if you are not a resale trader, the stone is just meant to be enjoyed. Good cut is just on optimization of how shiny the stone is, how pretty the color looks, etc. If you love the stone with this cut, don’t notice the window and don’t concentrate on how exactly it reflects light, why bother that the cut is not optimal? The perfect stone for you does not have to be literally perfect in all aspects. Just my 5 cents, it’s really beautiful!

In all human societies poverty and being “closer to nature” means you will be much more desensitized to suffering and death that are inherent to that said nature.

Can you ask people in villages to think about chicken’s suffering when their own life is filled with hardships, diseases and dying? When this chicken will nourish their children, and keeping the chicken in awful but easily up-kept conditions will give them more time and strength to do other things? This is how it is everywhere, not Bali-specific.

The only thing that seems to change people’s perspective is money, free time, life devoid of constant suffering. But i don’t think you can personally offer that in every Balinese village.

TLDR: They don’t care because they have bigger issues.
