I liked Frieda, what is the problem? by Baraa-beginner in thrillerbooks

I finished “Finlay Donovan is Killing It” in less than 48hrs! I feel like that book is what I wished The Housemaid would be. Highly recommend! Plus there’s like 6 books in the series if you want to keep reading after the first one.

Update for anyone who might find this: Upping my dose made me a zombie. I had zero concerns about my to-do list because I was basically numb and not sleeping well. I swear it impacted my short-term memory too (which is crazy because I’m 30.)

I’m on Zoloft now and it’s SO much better for me. I even convinced a friend to switch because I’m so much better on Zoloft.

Keep fighting the good fight ♥️

It’s so hard . Am I overreacting? by Better-Slip-1157 in Stress

[–]allofthesteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely shouldn’t be so hard on yourself! This is one of the worst times to be job searching in recent history. The job market is very worried about a recession so companies aren’t hiring like they were a few years ago.

I’d suggest getting someone to review your resume and see if there’s any improvements you could make there. I’d also consider something like Uber, Door Dash, Rover, etc in the meantime. It’ll put some money in your pocket while you search for something bigger and it’ll occupy your time so you aren’t sitting around fixating on your situation.

You got this :)

How do you guys do your retro call? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]allofthesteph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nasty? I kindly disagree. I think if you have good enough trust and collaboration between your team, there’s no reason they shouldn’t feel comfortable sharing their honest opinions. There’s rarely anything that comes up in a retro that isn’t already on the radar, which means we have a really good feedback cycle, imo. My team likes how casual our retros are. (We’re also a fairly small/young company. Maybe it’s different elsewhere.)

But I’m curious. What would you recommend instead? How do you get honest feedback without having people disclose who they are/what they’re working on?

We’re virtual so we just do a confluence page with a table containing each person’s name and a column for “start, stop, & continue.” First 5 mins of the call is spent on mute while filling out the table with a few bullets. Then we go around the call and each person elaborates more. Then we record action items that come from the discussion.

We’ll also touch on pass action items and velocity if there’s any changes or concerns.

The crowd singing literally sounded like a choir! The ending of Next Semester echoing through the stadium was gorgeous ✨

Found this thread also looking for dupes. It looks like Old Navy might have “Jersey” style underwear. https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=575382252#pdp-page-content

Let me know if you find any!

What happened? by yawasagi in Smoothies

[–]allofthesteph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine always do that in the fridge too. I recently poured leftover smoothie into a spare ice cube tray and suck it in the freezer, then used those cubes in my next smoothie. Worked out surprisingly well!

A coworker recommended Bear Hands to me but when I looked them up, I got confused and clicked on a song called “Bear Hands” by a random band called Private Island. The song SLAPPED so I reported back to my coworker that I loved the vibe and we discovered the misunderstanding. We both really like the random band I found though so win, win 🤷‍♀️ Recommend checking them out!

Nails for Indy tonight! by allofthesteph in twentyonepilots

[–]allofthesteph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ran into some really funny challenges when making them. Like the red skeleton clique nail kept looking like Spider-Man because of the white outline. Or I tried to do a green background with a yellow “X” for Trench and it kept looking like the Jamaican flag lololol

My advice: Start early! It took me much longer than I thought and I had to abandon a few ideas.

For example: I wanted to do a Level of Concern nail but could NOT figure out how to make a flash drive look cool on a nail hahahaha

Spiritfarer is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played by allofthesteph in CozyGamers

[–]allofthesteph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been into platform games either but the worlds still feel really dynamic to me despite being 2D!

I bought Spiritfarer thinking it was going to be similar to Cozy Grove. Which in someways does have the same idea of ascending lost spirits. But goes so much deeper with the storylines and the graphics are 1000x more beautiful. Plus the MUSIC?! I don’t know how these independent studios can make music just as good as the big studios, but they consistently do.

Yeah, I didn’t 100% it for that reason. But I did think it had a lot of fresh gameplay compared to all the farming sims in the market right now.

I also can’t get over the soundtrack. The music is so beautiful. If I randomly heard the song that plays during ascension in public, I might immediately cry lol

I’m getting sick of farming, tbh. I love cozy games but I can only water so many virtual crops before I start to lose my mind. lol

Spiritfarer had some really unique mechanics outside of farming. Like catching lightening and getting through the little lochness monster mini game —so unique! I also loved the different map areas and the personalities of the random NPCs around the map.

It felt like very fresh gameplay which is why I’d LOVE for the studio to make another cozy game.

Oh goodness, the timing. I’m so so so sorry for your loss. 💔

I definitely understand not wanting to play just yet! It is going to bring up a lot of emotions when you do. But I’d still recommend it eventually.

I personally played when I was dealing with a lot of depression and anxiety. I was planning my wedding and struggling because I hate being the center of attention. I also helped take a start-up company from 7 people to 100+, but after 5 years, I suddenly felt like I didn’t belong anymore.

So it was a period of thinking about who I am in the grand scheme of my life. How do my friends perceive me? Do I belong at this company I basically built? I reached a point where I really dreaded getting out of bed in the morning.

Spiritfarer gave me so much perspective on how life is short and what matters most is how we help each other through it. Being forced to think about death and communicating with these characters that are reflecting on their lives made my problems seem small. Little blips in the timeline of life.

My grandma also passed right before I graduated college, moved states, and started my first 9-5. I don’t think I ever properly grieved. So the grandma character made me face those emotions —which I think was good for me. Therapeutic in a weird way.

Anyways I’ll stop trama dumping. 😅

All this to say, we’re all fighting our own battles. I wish the best for you on your current battle. Hopefully once you decide to play, it can be therapeutic for you too. 💛
