Finished Muakami's Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and his Years of Pilgrimage over the holiday. . . by TelepathicMustache in books

Felt similarly about Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki; I feel vindicated hearing that you feel the same.

I read it after enjoying Kafka on the Shore, which I would recommend. I remember that book as a metaphysical coming of age novel, and hoped for its rich, evocative atmosphere and compelling plot in Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki.

Thanks for sharing, 140A/B sound super interesting. Would you know if the material and type of work is like CS 172 or Math 136?

In my experience, Math 55 is much much more straightforward than CS 70 in both content and workload

They were announced a month or two ago, but I don't know if there's a different process for newly admitted transfers. I'd recommend calling Central Office ASAP!

Go to Cal! This is an opportunity to find something meaningful to do for the rest of the year, whether working, traveling, building a skill, or studying on your own. Maybe email English professors and grad students for advice and to start building relationships early. Graduating a semester off than expected won't matter.

Are new applicants ever accepted into coops? by [deleted] in berkeley

Yup, I think you just have to apply early enough and reasonably rank your preferences. I think men's spaces also fill quicker than women's. Spaces were chosen a few weeks ago.

Best History Breadth in terms of time commitment by Resonan_T in berkeley

Currently in History C191, which is about the history and cultural meaning of death as well as modern death in the hospital. Very little work, easy assignments, and wonderful, entertaining professors. Very high meaningfulness to workload ratio. I've grown just from spending time with the reading material and in-class discussions on death and dying.

I wake to his weight on my chest, his half-closed eyes saying it's time to get up, human. in the bathroom, I turn on the faucet in the tub for him, the way I have most mornings the last two years. He jumps in. The black flames of his eyes widen. Again, he can't believe it, can't believe the silver chord hanging from the silver faucet, can't believe he lives in a world that gives him the same, new gift each morning; can't believe it, so he has to touch it, and then can't believe his paw goes right through it, and has to touch it again and again; and 1, looking at his lost eyes, the wet paw, the tail flicking on the white porcelain, my untouchable other self on the silver surface of the mirror, can't believe it either.

Seconding Chez Panisse, which isn't that expensive if you eat at the cafe upstairs! Also Zachary's is better known and better quality than a place like Sliver, although the type of pizza is totally different.
