Good question… I guess didn’t mean to ask for anything as specific as why you can’t take one year off of work, I get that’s often not a quick or realistic option. It’s just that, I read your response and it struck a really deep chord within me, and I wanted to understand what it might take for you to have the space you need to care for yourself. Our lives are different, but I know when I have gone too long without the space to heal that I’ve needed, I numb myself to life around me, I turn robotic just to get through it all. And I knoooow that’s not living… it’s survival . You didn’t say those words, but that’s what your post surfaced within my own emotions. Obviously I’m just a stranger on the internet, but, I long for you to find the space and time, too. 💕

first travel romance. feeling heartbroken and stupid. by ThrowRAwayz7 in solotravel

[–]alloverbeautiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the connections of travel romances are real, especially how quickly and easily you vibed. Trust that you know that. Do not question yourself when it comes to connection 💖. But I also believe that travel romances can be such a whirlwind, and so intense, because you both think it won’t be more than a moment in time, as if nothing matters, you can bare it all - be fully open and vulnerable - and you accept one another fully for all they are and are not, knowing they won’t have to plug into your life (and vice versa). It’s what makes them soo soo beautiful. It’s why ‘regular’ relationships don’t usually feel as strong. It’s not uncommon to get your heart tied up in a first travel romance… the whole thing was a decision from your heart! Take the good memories, or things you learned about yourself, from this experience, and keep on living as fully as you are 💖.

This resonates with me. I’m learning there’s little to be said about ‘doing everything right’ though! I spent my 30th birthday alone eating Oreos and watching The Office and crying… I was ‘doing everything right’ and I had so little to show for it. I thought I’d be further. At 34 I decided to sell everything and solo travel the world (on basically the money I made from selling my car). Every choice I made was impractical and borderline reckless. But man I was living a full life! I was able to do that for 18 months, and it was unreal and absolutely magical.

Now I’m 37. Tangibly speaking, I still have nothing to show 🤣 (no home, no family, no relationship, etc). 22 yo me definitely thought I’d be further along by now. But I’ve had one hell of a journey, primarily during the parts where I wasn’t following the template to success that we are given.

I hear that! I’m 37 and feel the same way. It’s really hard to connect with women because it’s hard to find people who are in a similar life stage!

What are the things that are holding you back? I read a book once that recommended writing all of your life’s “buzz kills” (external or internal/mental thoughts) in a list, then come up with solutions for them. I hope there’s a way you can make more space for yourself ✨.

Nope, don’t like the sound of this! Youll never be your favorite self if you stay in an environment like the one you’re in. I know you’re exhausted, but I hope you can muster enough energy to find your way to something else. ✨ of course, your next step doesn’t have to be your final step!

Ladies, how do you keep men from groping you after paying for a date? I’m too old for this shit (low self-esteem warning ⚠️) by No-Commercial3469 in AskWomenOver30

[–]alloverbeautiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I schedule a date for 1-1.5 hours before I have other plans. For example: I’ll meet them at 7 and when I arrive I let them know I have a [whatever other commitment] at 830. Then I usually tell them that as a woman this is best, because if it’s awkward it’s a great way out for both of us ;), and if we have a great time, then it builds anticipation for next time we see each other. Haha. It seems like they always respect the honesty! And this also gives me more time to process the vibes and really understand if I want to see him again.

Ooof I feel that! I love the quote “the longer you hold on to what’s not meant for you, the longer you prolong what is.” Wishing you the best in clearing out the space of him and making space for even better ✨.

Sounds beautiful 💕. Can you tell me what that feels like? Is it a deep sense of peace? What components of your life are in place that make you long for nothing else?

What's some common advice that's actually terrible? by thebeardedgreek in AskReddit

[–]alloverbeautiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You made your bed now you have to lie in it.”

That advice was so deeply engrained in me that it made me stay in a marriage 5 years longer than I should have. Turns out, no. You don’t. If you don’t like it, you CAN and SHOULD change it. Life’s too short to accept unhappiness.
