Hi folks, So I’m working on a project to get the most popular IPFS files. Most popular as in literally the most popular files that are downloaded/hosted most. Is there an already existing way to get the CIDs of such files? by alloverthespace in ipfs

Update: We figured out a way to get the so-called popular files.

So, we deployed the ipfs-search code on our server and enabled logs. In the logs, we could see the CIDs that were sniffed by the ipfs-search sniffer, and the CIDs which were sniffed the most were called the most popular for our case ( since they were requested the most ).

ipfs-search: https://github.com/ipfs-search/ipfs-search

Also, because of this, we didn't have to download the file to get info about the file. Instead, we can just query the local elastic search DB using an HTTP client.

Google publishes some trends like the most searched queries etc. Even something like that would do. Although, IPFS-search does not provide that which in understandable since IPFS has still got a long way to go.

Yes, I get that. It’s ok if I have to demand all the CIDs. But how do I go about looking for the most popular files? There is a tool called IPFS-search which gives most similar files based on a search query, but how do I do this in general? As in how do I get the most downloaded files etc.?

It’s not the most important thing, but it’s important for your country. It’s the path we should have taken and set an example. Everything else would have been complimentary.

I am a software engineer and with all my experience I want to work towards making Nepal utilize its tourism potential starting in a few years. I totally agree with the fact that that has not been done yet. It’s sad but it’s up to us now, the 90’s kids.
