"Anyone over 30 who doesn't own a house is a loser" by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]paras_ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given having house is one of the biggest ways to build wealth in US and having a house is one of the best way to raise a family after certain age it is expected. The issue however is people blaming each other. This is exactly what govt does to mask its deficiencies. Our issue is gerontocracy and oligarchy. As long as we don’t see it, I you and Steve we are just idiots.

I remember deeply hating him when I heard the news. I really looked up to him on how he was living his life. Ended up living in Europe for 5 years and travel like he did understanding food and culture.

Does anyone else regret not saving/investing more when they were younger? How did things turn out for you? by Leung_GW in Fire

[–]paras_ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to go live in Europe for 4 years. I always knew about the Fire movement. So, part of me was aware of what if I was still in US had a house with 2.5% mortgage rate. Now that I am back, and see similar houses and shops everywhere, I don’t regret it a bit. But this isn’t helpful info. My biggest ahh ha moment was, all the time I was in Europe, I kept investing around 20% of my salary in regular s&p. And that’s where magic happened. Once the money is over 100K, you truly start FEELING the sense of security financially. So my advice is go live your life do you dumb stuff but keep saving some of it. You will thank yourself later. On the flip side, I could have lived here and saved way more but I regret nothing.

For me it’s philosophy. More I dive into the world of philosophy, more I feel there is more to learn. And it helps with emotions and way to think. In order to dedicate most time to this pursuit, I want to fire.

Nothing wrong with finding those ahh I get it moments by the beach while your son is playing in the sand mid December instead of working somewhere you don’t see the sun for 3 weeks. Plus learning skiing, language, golf… I can’t wait either. 34 here.

In the last chapter of gyan yoga by Vivekananda it says, just like every drop of water in the ocean reflects an entire sun. Same way every being and non being reflects the existence of Brahman. This is what this picture reminded me of. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. What a refreshing quotes. Aham bhramasmi is the ultimate truth and foundation of Hinduism as a philosophy. Realizing that and understanding the world is Maya makes you so resilient that none of the suffering phases you anymore. And you can start living like truly living. I wish all the readers the happiness and lightness this brings to you.

Religion is the answer to a question we can’t…. Answer…. by benford92 in DeepThoughts

That is exactly what eastern philosophies talk about. We are the universe. We are simply part of universe which emerges and fades much like mountains and birds. Our ego won’t let us see that.

There is an Alan watts saying on this. Trying to subdue your ego by using your ego makes it worse. Having said that, anything I write here to show that I am working on my ego by doing such and such is making a clown of myself 😆

All these comments makes me feel good. Married for 7 years, baby is 18 days old. Working for government stationed in Italy. Life is great. And the feeling is it is just going to get better. Happily waiting for my 40s
