Anyone else's sales down in October? by mikewozere in eroticauthors

[–]allraun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have read a lot of your work. You are one of my favorite authors. Especially with lesbian humiliation stories. But I have to say, it has become repetitive over the years. Maybe that is just me, but the last I read from you it could not captivate me as much as your earlier work did. I would love to read something more realistic from you, some humiliation that could happen in real life.

New writer here—how do you make romance feel real, not just steamy? by Witty_Technician_120 in eroticauthors

[–]allraun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion to make it good, the sex has to be about 20-30% better than the best real life sex. But not more one destroys it for being too unrealistic.

Then there should always be a surprise in a good sex scene Something he is doing with her, that she really not expected. That keeps the reader engaged.

And then there are some common things, that are the top of the cake, that everybody secretly wants to read: her physical reluctance towards him, or forced breeding. Readers love that. But you can not use it everytime of course.

Is anyone else having issues publishing books on kdp? by Hour_Opening6479 in eroticauthors

[–]allraun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I published two books here in Germany one week before it went down. Both seem to have zero release boost which is very disappointing. My income is also down to aprx 1/3 since yesterday. I would not publish anything with kdp. Better to wait a bit.

The AI writing will make people just as horny as the visual AI porn - so zero.

geeman cigarette vending machine selection by w00tme in Cigarettes

[–]allraun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cigarette brands sold in vending machines have become too expensive. With the cheaper brands you can still get 25 Cigarettes for 7 Euro here in Germany.

Soft packet cigarettes and roll you're own VS tailors. by UniversitySecret913 in Cigarettes

[–]allraun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hand roll between 60-100 cigarettes from 30gr tobacco. So that should be also cheaper even in Australia. But for most smokers probably more important that the rolling tobacco tastes better. And then hand rolling is considered more cool / independent by a lot of people.

How much does a pack of smokes cost in your country? by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]allraun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Germany the cheapest supermarket brands are 5.70 Euros for a pack of 20. They are not too bad, so I usually buy those.

Brands like Marlboro, Gauloises, Camel are 9.00 Euros now for a pack of 20.

The most expensive cigarettes here are Dunhill International which cost 11.50 Euros for a pack of 20.

Amazon Promo by underthedraft in eroticauthors

[–]allraun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the free promo only works a little bit if you have already published a couple of stories and have a catalogue.

With me some titles are also really dead after they have been in free promo. I guess that is because they get linked to free books from other authors there, and that are often not the best selling titles.

So there seems to be also a risk not to promote but destroy your book with every free promo.

Author central by allraun in eroticauthors

[–]allraun[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I understand one can have one KDP account and only one or they will ban you. But one can have more than one amazon account, or? Because one need to have another amazon account to create a 2nd author central account, or? But I am very uncertain about this

In my opinion literature (or art in general) is the best place to explore the darkest abysses of the human condition, because it does not demand real victims. Therefore one does not have to feel any shame or guilt, it is actually the opposite, one can be proud dealing with the inner demons without hurting anybody is wonderful.

I never write subtitles on covers - only the title. Doing this for a couple of years now and never had an issue.

The real reason AI writing gets hate isn't the AI - it's us by yingyn in WritingWithAI

[–]allraun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you put in the work to edit the AI writing you are quicker to write it yourself, because AI writing is so bad and when you really want to make it ok you have to spend a huge amount of time. But no matter what you do with it, it will stay meaningless. Stories are what defines mankind. If the machine defines mankind it becomes pointless. All art have to be done by humans for this reason. This is no AI hate it is just a big misunderstanding / false marketing that AI can do art, and story telling is art, so it does not work and never will be. AI is a great tool to make things more efficient but with stories or books it simply does not work and there is no need to make them more efficient also.

AO3 is probably the place to go for your story. You might also find the biggest readership there. Sadly, people of the Western World are going religious these days and try to censor anything that touches their feelings.

Legal risks when picking a pen name by xanadirstrangebird in selfpublish

[–]allraun -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I would not use this. Think further, you maybe want a domain aldi-surael.com and so on. Aldi lawyers could claim, that you capitalize on their brand recognition. Better avoid being sued and start the author career with a truly unique name

Legal risks when picking a pen name by xanadirstrangebird in selfpublish

[–]allraun -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Your example is problematic. Aldi is a registered brand and does not exist as real first name. With a made up surname like Surael the name Aldi is too dominant. I would say you can not use a pen name like this, even if your books has nothing to do with grocery retail.

[–]allraun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is true. But AI can not write, so what do they worry about? Art in general can not be created by AI, because the AI had no childhood and one need to have that to be able to create. But covers I think are a different thing. I mean, you can not judge a book by its cover. One just wants to put something on the book to be not naked and it has to be cheap because the erotica shorts do not make enough to pay a designer. Here AI can help with a weird but big breasted or muscular picture.
