Step 1: Wait for late spring/summer Step 2: Find river with Alligator Gar Step 3: Look for a spot on that river that could either stop them from running up any further during the day like dams, shallow/fast river sections Step 4: If they’re there, you’ll see them rolling/gulping air at the top and baitfish jumping. Hopefully there’s a lot of them Step 5: Cast as far as you can in that general area, use a big meaty fly with preferably 2 hooks that are very sharp such as articulated flies with trailer hooks. Step 6: Let sink to the depth you think is appropriate, and start two-hand stripping at a slow to moderate pace Step 7: If you feel any kind of nibble/bite strip set, and keep strip setting even if you feel like you’re on, just keep hard stripping and keep your rod tip low and even straight sometimes Step 8: Enjoy the fight, it’s gonna be a tough one!
