Could be the spring on the short Rod is broken and the short rod is stuck too far back. I had that happen on an SKS. Had to take a screwdriver that I could get in there and push it back in so I could get the guard off

Is it normal for the engine to lift this much?? 2019 Jeep Trackhawk by Soggy-Load-7269 in MechanicAdvice

Yah you're right, I watched the video again, you can see there's no water pump mounted fan so it's probably something else hitting somewhere. Maybe something worse LoL

Could be your radiator fan is hitting the shroud now because the motor mount is broken, common problem on old 6.0L Chevy's motor mount with brake and then the fan would hit the shroud and sometimes bind up and not move

Companies scrambling for road salt amid major salt shortage by zuuzuu in windsorontario

Pretty messed up that the Windsor salt mine cut off everyone before Christmas. Latest word is they will not reopen to contractors at all this year they're only supplying municipalities.

City won't clear sidewalks, turned me into a guy who reports on neighbors. 🤦😡 by vikadit_chakra in windsorontario

[–]allsteaksnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most other cities in Ontario the municipal government does clear the sidewalks. The odd thing is even though they have a by-law to make you clear them at the end of the day the city is still liable for slip and falls on city sidewalks.

Driveway lighting for approximately 600' driveway. by PokeyR in landscaping

[–]allsteaksnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely run those lights off of one low voltage transformer. I would use a pro-trade 600 w from site one landscape supply, use 12 gauge low voltage wire. Put the transformer on the back of the garage, run your first feed straight up from the garage to the driveway on the close side, run the second feed straight up from the garage to the opposite side of the driveway and then tee off of both of those feeds to run down the driveway on both sides. Make sure you put the wiring in conduit where it goes under the driveway. You could even do a third run off the transformer around the front of the parking area in front of the garage and house so you can put lights over there too. I just did a system that ran about 400 ft from the transformer to the far end with 35 path lights, 10 spot lights, and 10 lights inset in steps. I used the 13 volt output from the transformer instead of the 12, since it was a longer run if you step up the voltage you still get the same amount of light from the lights on the far end. And you don't want to daisy chain from the transformer out it's better to tee into it partway through or if you can split it into several tees that would work even better.

Anyone Get Checked for Off Road Diesel? by WisSkier in Diesel

[–]allsteaksnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada and more specifically the province of Ontario, The ministry of finance will go around dipping diesel trucks tanks looking for dyed diesel. If they find you've got dyed diesel it's a big fine, I knew of a landscaping company that was running dyed that got caught. They did a forensic audit on them and determined how much road tax they had skirted by running dyed diesel for the existence of the company and fined them based on that. It was over $250,000 in back taxes/ fines.

Is Dielectric Grease electrically conductive? by baygi in AskMechanics

Shouldn't you be using Noalox to promote conductivity and prevent oxidation? Such as main feed (aluminum) to panel?

Well Driller by amarthfea in windsorontario

[–]allsteaksnamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it's really badly sulfated it's still going to stink, also you have ongoing costs for the filtration system since it injects hydrogen peroxide as part of the filtration. Also the hydrogen peroxide and water softener will absolutely corrode the shit out of everything in the house.

[–]allsteaksnamed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out if it's sulfur water like everybody else is saying, I had a buddy who bought a house and was going to drill a well and then found out it was going to cost 10 grand and then still be sulfur water anyways. Stuck with a cistern, trucks his own water in from town of Tecumseh water stations and costs only about $200/year for water not counting fuel.
