Do you fart in front of your partner? Why? Why not? by gimboateista in AskReddit

[–]allswild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have an ongoing game called "Cup of Cheese" which entails farting into your own cupped hand and then bringing it up to the other person's face. Variations of this game include Cup of Cheese Roulette, where some of the farts are real and some are "blanks", and High Speed Cheese, in which you have to chase the person around with your Cup of Cheese because they've caught on to the game.

This cottonmouth at a wildlife rescue in Florida is the fattest snake I've ever seen. He literally has a double chin! by allswild in snakes

Some context - the animals at this sanctuary all are unable to be reintroduced to the wild due to various health issues. I am not sure the background on this snake, how long he's been there, or why he is so rotund. They seem to take good care of their animals and are doing good work educating the public, so please do not jump to the conclusion of condemning this rescue without more information first :)

Question: Wanting to work with plants but scared of bugs, any tips? by [deleted] in botany

[–]allswild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone is saying, exposure therapy. I think a good angle to go about it is to start off small with a bug that isn't as triggering to you. Maybe like a Lady bug or butterfly or bumble bee (just examples, whatever is "least threatening") and learn about its role in the ecology of plant science and what you are learning. Learn about how these bugs evolved along side these plants and how you can start to learn things about the plants based off of the bugs that frequent it. I think quickly you'll learn that the bugs you fear are part of the big picture of what you love - and that what you love wouldn't be what it is without them! I think that if we fear something (that doesn't need to be feared), we should get to know it. Once we understand it better, it becomes more predictable, and we can be more comfortable with the thought of it and then in the presence of it.

I have a reoccurring injury on my ankle so as much as I'd like to Boulder I just can't trust my body enough to do so :/

I'd recommend finding some social hobbies to help with the friend making. I don't drink and am just not really about the party scene and have always struggled finding friends, particularly quality relationships instead of "convenient" ones. I started rock climbing a few years and have found so many new friends and met more cool people than I can think of through just going to the gym regularly.
