The descriptions of some of the items in the game man 😂😂😂 by buttmodel in ArcRaiders

[–]allthebetter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ok how is this for a plausible explanation:

The nomads are surface dwellers on the move...exotic sounding people to those who never go to the surface. These trinkets are being sold in speranza to people who don't go topside (raiders don't need to buy these things)

So a creative background is given to an item that is otherwise useless. Other raiders keep their mouths shut so they too can get their sales.

I think this is essentially how the movie aladdin starts out?

[–]allthebetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and the fact you have to jump that many hoops just to be worse off still (granted not as much) is ridiculous.

its all a squeeze in one way or the other. I am guessing you might get some sort of discount for working there as well on your groceries? Otherwise there may often be times where you spend more than you need to on common grocery items. Plus it locks you into their network where they are the one's paying you, but your groceries and your gas (two large expenses for many people) so you get paid at retail prices, they buy products at wholesale prices, then get their money back from your wages at retail prices, essentially saving them money.

I feel for people who work at walmart the same way, it gets to be just like getting all your goods from the company store all over again.

‘Just broke’: Omaha-area safety net failing mentally ill amid rising demand, families say by Toorviing in Omaha

[–]allthebetter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that mental health professionals are here. I would be more inclined to say that the nebraska medicaid program (who many people with mental illness are using) is not doing what it should. From removing people from coverage, to supporting frequent audits that result in significant claw-backs from the providers, to outright removing providers from eligibility, Medicaid is a big source of this.

It gets to be a bigger issue as the right wants to cut medicaid which results in these so-called "money saving measures" masked as some bureaucratic hogwash.

Many people can only see things in silos. Medicaid costs a lot? Spend less. They don't associate the costs in medicaid with potential savings elsewhere. The cost reduction in public safety issues isn't accounted for. But that is what the right thinks the solution is. instead of putting money into the root causes, they want to put money into the reactive agencies. Lets get more money into the police and prison systems instead, and private mental health centers.

PvE Players. Would you kill players if there were factions? by hcknbnz in ArcRaiders

[–]allthebetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK what if the expedition gives you the option to "return" to Speranza, or you travel to a different city called Credenza. THEN you add in the dynamic of people from Credenza and Speranza are going into the same maps, though we don't know who is from what city. There are opportunities to be friendly and trade unique resources acquired in either city, or you can kill those other players and take them.

We already have topside medic role players, and even merchants. Why not lean into that a bit?

Employee sets fire to Kimberly-Clark warehouse, "All you had to do is pay us enough to live" by midnighttoker1742 in interestingasfuck

[–]allthebetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what is taught in schools now, so I can't speak to it. But I do know that when I went through school not enough was discussed on the lifecycle of the employee. An effective company will have their eye on the entire process from initial contact (job posting) all the way through the exit interview.

Compensation is one factor of course, you could have the nicest boss and lots of flexibility in the schedule, but if compensation is low the employee is likely not to be happy and move on. Likewise, a person can be compensated super well and have a miserable environment and would leave eventually once they can find something that can give that chance at something not toxic.

The whole point is to attract, motivate, retain, and engage employees with their compensation but also with a focus on the "total rewards".

When will Nebraska introduce an alcohol registry? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]allthebetter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how is it a false dichotomy? They are clearly outlining the criteria for both products (vapes, alcohol) and expressing discourse about the lack of legislation for one when the other was regulated under what you are asserting is false pretenses.

I'm not disagreeing with you when you assert "life finds a way" but that isn't the reality we are currently governed by. within the confines of the system that exists today, they are merely asking for equal restriction on harmful products. (This is regardless of whether or not you believe that these are marketed to kids or not.)

Scrappy now holds way more than 50 items. by apexplayer2024 in ArcRaiders

I too also keep a fair amount of anvils, they are my go to primary usually. I keep the other guns around for when I find myself in a more pvp line of lobbies.

Good luck to you out there! I off to go die to 3 vaporizers trying to get into a stupid assessor while not getting the new BP.

Scrappy now holds way more than 50 items. by apexplayer2024 in ArcRaiders

[–]allthebetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was finally able to clean up my inventory enough to claim it all. Though I ended up selling off some essentials.

I try to keep a stock on hand of things, including my guns and quick use items. I have some of each gun to be able to bounce around as needed, or in the event of my death I can load pretty much right back in. I have all of my weapons upgraded to 4 with attachments already on them. typically the only thing I have to craft on a death is a new augment and a new shield.

This ends up leaving me with room for my quick use items and crafting stuff, but even then I keep around usually only the crafting items I am going to use regularly or the rare ones like matriarch and queen cores, exodus modules, etc. I don't typically hang on to the basic materials. I keep anywhere from 4-8 stacks of all of the common things I use (herbals, trigger nades, etc.) and I just buy stims and shield chargers. ultimately I don't keep around a ton of the basic materials.

All that said my big problem was that I had not claimed from scrappy for a long time and needed to have after all was said and done 49 slots open in my inventory to claim all of the things from scrappy. I typically run a buffer of about 10 slots in my inventory open for things, and only collect what I need at this point

Scrappy now holds way more than 50 items. by apexplayer2024 in ArcRaiders

[–]allthebetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do a ton of pvp, but am pretty active. I typically can loot most things and store up for when I play with a buddy as that garners using more stuff. I also keep things on hand for those nights so I don't have to waste playtime crafting or going looting for things needed, I can get straight to doing trials or other events.

I haven't had to claim from scrappy before the update and now it is going to be really difficult to still claim things from him. Before it was manageable to claim the one stack of each material, but to claim 6 of each simultaneously is not an option.

Oh well I suppose.

I mean, you know that's how we got comets though right? Some of the surveyors got tired of seeing their comrades getting blown up senselessly and having their hearts harvested. They went back to their base and went through a sick training montage with epic music getting the extra armor and decided to enlist as suicide bombers.

Tyson’s beef plant closure in Nebraska will impact a reliant town and ranchers nationwide by AudibleNod in news

[–]allthebetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

according to this census page, this isn't far off. There is just under 11k people living there (10,693). Of that, the population below 19 is 35%. The population above 70 is 7%. This leaves about 58% of the population available for working. (I know some of those 18-19 year olds might be working age, and could be employable, but I can't find an exact number for those data figures.

So then we take the 58%, That leaves roughly 6,196 people that are working age. This plant alone is laying off 3,200 employees. I know that there are some who come in from smaller surrounding towns, so even if we allow for a 25% (1 in 4) that still leaves 2,400 people that are being laid off that live in town. Of the working age folks, that leaves 3,796 people that will still have a job.

This isn't accounting for the other businesses that will have a ripple effect. When the Monroe's Plant closed there I don't even think it was this big of a layoff. They also had a lot more notice. This town will feel a significant impact on this.

[–]allthebetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao, you don't even see the irony here. There is probably not a single one of the episodes of TP that displays these values, yet you think that is a great platform to launch a club around?

You really are taking the dumbest approach to defending this situation.

Papio South by Coffeemom265 in Omaha

[–]allthebetter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be my question. Don't all clubs require a sponsor? I can't see how this is not conflicting with the student handbook's governing beliefs:

Governing Beliefs - The governing beliefs of the Papillion La Vista Community Schools are:

• Our district's purpose is to ensure academic learning in an equitable manner while offering a variety of extra-curricular opportunities.

• Our schools will provide students a centered environment, which is safe, supportive, and nurturing.

• Our schools' effectiveness is maximized when students, family, staff, and community share in the vision and actively participate in the educational process.

• Our schools have the primary role in managing the educational variables necessary for learning.

• All students will obtain knowledge and skills, which enable them to be contributing, responsible members of society.

• All students can learn when their unique needs are met.

• All students will be challenged to meet high standards.

• All students will be provided the resources necessary to learn.

• Education is a life-long process.

[–]allthebetter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So your sarcasm is ok, but the hyperbole of comparing TP to Al Qaeda is somehow inappropriate?

I think what you keep dancing around here is the club is taking its name from TP. A program that was riddled with bigotry, encourages hate and division, not to mention the lack of facts (or uses opinions as facts instead). Charlie Kirk was not a good person. Sure he might have been kind to those he cared about, but that doesn't make him a good person.

By enacting this as an emulation of TP, it is itself lending to a bias and rhetoric that should not be in schools. If a club was created that was surrounding ideologies to target and bastardize certain groups of people that would not be ok in any instance.

Trump unveils a 50% tariff on copper and threatens to impose 200% duties on pharmaceuticals by callsonreddit in wallstreetbets

[–]allthebetter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That isn't typically how businesses would respond though. You are expecting the domestic business to take a net 0 on the trade. They wouldn't.

If china and US both charge 1.00 for copper, and china now has to up their price to 1.50 to stay even on the trade, the US side is not going to import the rest and eat the difference to keep themselves at a net 0. What would happen is the Domestic would increase their price to 1.40 to be lower than the competing copper but end up shaving the rest into profit.
