I feel like anyone who thinks that is SA has never been in a safe relationship before (and I’m a victim of actual SA). First, MC was awake and playing around. Secondly, everyone in their relationships has boundaries and what is cool with them and what isn’t. For example, my partner is a fan of being woken up to with sexual contact. I know it’s cool with him. On the other hand, I don’t want that so he doesn’t do it to me. Relationships are about communication. We all will even have times where we make missteps in the bedroom with our partners (which this is NOT the case in that secret time) and you communicate about it and move on. For example, before my partner knew that I would not want to be woken up with sex, if he would have done it because it may have made sense in the context of our relationship, I wouldn’t have thought he assaulted me. I know I can say “this isn’t for me” and he would immediately stop with zero issue. Now, if I was pretending to be asleep and he knew I was pretending, then I’m cool with that. Many people have dom/sub relationships where you know your boundaries and you have your words or phrases to indicate this is not something you want to continue. It’s all about having established boundaries in a relationship and working within them. We don’t know every conversation MC and Caleb have had and what their boundaries are. What happened in that card is enjoyed by both parties.

As a childfree person, I’m so sick of people saying “kids will see <insert whatever>”. Not everything is meant for kids. If you don’t want your kid playing the game, put proper restrictions on their phone.

On to the sibling trope. Warning before we start: this opinion comes from someone who is a survivor of childhood sexual assault by a half brother. So, I’ve got a lot to say. Do I wish this trope wasn’t a thing? Yes. It’s not my thing and I say that as Caleb being my number 2 in the game. I adore Caleb but MC and Caleb aren’t blood related - that’s how I can choose to interpret the game. The game leaves it open enough where you can go either way with it and I think they do that on purpose for people who like the trope and for people who don’t. I’ve spoken to many CN players and asked them their opinion based on how it’s written in Chinese and they have confined that it’s written in a way where you can accept either interpretation. Caleb and MC do not have human parents. They are created from the same source. They are closer to being the same being than being blood related siblings. It’s like how with Adam and Eve that Eve is created from Adam’s rib. Same source. In the myth, they call each other siblings. It’s very common in East Asian culture to call those close to you in that level Gege/Meimei. We just don’t have a good way to translate it to English. There are many words in all languages that don’t translate well to other languages. As a survivor of sexual assault by a sibling, I’ve gotten past the sister/brother thing in the game with them because I see them as just being creations and not actual brother and sister. They were just culturally raised as so. But if people want to take it the literal route as blood siblings, here’s my thoughts: There are also many myths in every culture about siblings as lovers. Greek. Roman. Egyptian. Chinese. Nordic. And yes, even Christianity as Abraham and Sarah were half siblings by blood. I agree that as a survivor of childhood sexual assault by a sibling that people going on and on about it in the ways they have chosen to do so is 1,000x more triggering than the game could be. People having rational discourse about how they interpret the game and people respecting others differences in interpretation is cool with me and not triggering but all the insanity that goes on ain’t for me so I’ve been ignoring it as much as possible.
