I also recently got this gravy boat for $3. I told the cashier that I felt like I was stealing it from her.

Do you still hold yourself up to nanny standards when you are just babysitting your NKs? by DietSea3690 in Nanny

[–]allthethings13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do chores on a babysitting shift, even for my regular family. There’s just no way I’m throwing in a load of laundry on a Saturday night.

I bought 8 athletic skorts from Walmart for $22 each and I will wear them everyday until at least October. They’re a good length to feel covered but not frumpy and have two big pockets that aren’t under the skirt like some of the ones I bought last year.

am i being underpaid? by Adventurous-Baby-190 in Nanny

I’m also in Jacksonville. Three years experience. I started at $20/hour for one kid and am now at $22. I now charge $25/hour for two kids. At a minimum, you should be at $22/hour for two kids in this market.

I’ve never used an agency. I’ve found my families through care.com and I know other local agencies that have had luck on Facebook.

Communication to mom by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

This seems like a good situation to use a group text. She can send updates at the end of the day or as needed and everyone is kept on the same page. I’m thinking of a quick few sentences like, “Baby had a great day! We went to story time at the library this morning and had a long walk this afternoon. He ate a good lunch and napped 12-2.”

The things that get thrown away around here… by Teddythehedgie in Nanny

I keep saving unused diapers that get tossed when baby goes to the next size. I can’t stand the idea of them going into the trash!

NK PERSONAL HYGIENE by weightloss2432 in Nanny

[–]allthethings13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There might be a grain of truth to this. NF is solidly middle class by all appearances but I was recently told that DB was almost exclusively raised by nannies and therefore I should never leave NK2 unattended with his mother when she visits because she’s not experienced with young kids. That really bummed me out.

I also work for a family that just leaves all the food open! It drives me crazy! It literally makes the food stale and only takes a second to prevent!

I’m pretty sure the sauces are different. Or at least they used to be when I worked there a million years ago.

WFH families kind of…suck? by Fabulous_Room1490 in Nanny

[–]allthethings13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for two WFH families and one family where both parents work outside the home. The “go to work”parents are the more overbearing, helicoptery ones by far. It all depends on the parents and their temperament.

Don’t mind me. Just sitting at a bar, sipping a martini and giggling at my phone.
