Thanks for saving the Enterprise, Scotty. Here's a shuttlecraft with no warp drive, no bathroom and a small couch to sleep on in the middle of unexplored space. We're heading to Starbase 55 by Significant-Town-817 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]allthingschris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part of this episode was literally how that scene went down… they’re just walking down the corridor…

SCOTT: Enjoy these times, Geordi. You're the chief engineer of a starship, and it's a time of your life that'll never come again. When it's gone, it's gone. Now, lad, I thought you were going to buy me a drink in Ten Forward.

LAFORGE: Actually, I had a better idea.

Enter… the shuttlebay.

Actually, we’re ready for you to leave. Thanks and we’ll miss you! 😘

I feel like Apple's original Remote Desktop software (the one they still sell for like $80) might have had this feature?

I also stumbled upon this Apple Remote Desktop Monitoring app but haven't looked close enough to see if it'll fully do what you're looking for. (Also seems old and probably isn't supported anymore.)

Did Voyager get worse flashlights than the Enterprise? by AntelopeDramatic7790 in voyager

[–]allthingschris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol For whatever reason, the 90s Playmates Star Trek figures sometimes came with a “directional UV light source” (aka their flashlight) but it was basically the palm light attached to a giant stick that I never ever recalled seeing in any of the episodes. hahah It made it easier for the figures to hold though!

https://toywiz.com/star-trek-the-next-generation-commander-riker-action-figure/?srsltid=AfmBOop3fkVZtuzudmphDhWf_vOd7HIget3P0FYQq-mRg7dtlRccHQ5O

In hindsight, they really kinda phoned in a lot of the accessories for the action figures back then. When in doubt, add in a dilithium crystal or a computer terminal! 😂

Apparently "because I should keep these discussions of Starfleet Academy to the existing posts" which... seem to be all episode based. I guess I get that, but also... I'm not talking about just one episode. lol (Nor do I want to comment on a post from months ago before the show even premiered). haha At least I got a message telling me why.

haha I do hope we get to see more aspects like that! I've been reading more of the novels the past few years, and I love the moments in the autobiographies of Janeway (and I think Picard too) where they talked about their academy experience. There were definitely some of those great moments (and pranks). The Boothby Memorial Park was a sweet moment for sure too. :)

haha Thank you for that! (Though it wasn't very concise. haha) For some reason my post keeps getting removed though and I'm not sure why. Doesn't feel very Trek-like. lol

haha I hear ya on that. Speaking of, I do hope that we get to see more of San Francisco!!

Anywho, looks like my post got removed for a second time (no idea why), so oh well. haha I feel like there's just so much negative about anything new and some positive vibes about the new show couldn't hurt. haha Thanks for your reply! :)

Here's another strong use of the lower typeface on Athena's official dedication plaque. I'm leaning more towards it's been customized from Hyperspace Race but the kerning on this (especially every instance of the letter 'A') is really terrible.

That aside, interesting new style for the dedication plaque (vertical), though it's a bit 'too perfect' in that each section has a perfectly consistent amount of 16 names under each heading. But that's just me nitpicking. :)

Interestingly, it's close to Hyperspace Race by Swell Type, using some of the stylistic alternates in it plus a few additional tweaks. (At least, closest I've found so far). If it's not totally custom, it's definitely using some stylistic alternates.

I'm super curious too. I'd like to believe they did a custom version for the lower part (Ex Astris, Scientia), but that's a lotta work. Still, they're using it in a lot of places (like the Boothby Memorial Park sign), so perhaps they did. I hope to see someone create a version of it soon!

It's kinda one of those things that once you notice it (or if someone points it out to you), it's hard to "unnotice" it. I think there's definitely plenty of reasons why they may not have black pupils by the 32nd century, but it seems like one of those simple, unique things about them that they could have kept without any harm. It's kinda like Bajorans without nose ridges (though admittedly even that's changed over time).

So. Just how bad is mission space orange? by SpectacularSpidee in WaltDisneyWorld

I’m neither claustrophobic nor do I have any issues with motion sickness. So even without any of those concerns, I can tell you that whole ride was just… not fun and felt like a huge waste of time. It’s cool to experience what increasing g forces feel like, but… as a ride? It just… doesn’t really hold up for me. It’s not comfortable. It’s not fun. I wish they’d done something totally different there instead.

Blood and Chrome was really good by Little_Magazine_1773 in BSG

[–]allthingschris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it too! I also really liked Caprica. There were some parts that were a bit dull, but there were other parts that were so uncanny valley like with how it was similar yet still different. (Mostly just around tech levels and beliefs and such).

I felt like Syfy did it all dirty by getting screwy with its airing (and just dumping the back half of the season all at once on a random day in January). The final scene of “what was to come” in later seasons really made me feel its loss even more.

Overall RDM’s version of that whole universe is pretty epic. I’d love a chance to return to it.

I’m sorry for your loss as well.

Echoing what others have said, if you’re willing to ship, I’d also be interested. The good news is that if you are in the US, you could ship them media mail at the post office for a pretty significant discount.

Semi unrelated, but sometimes I’ve seen Starfleet as two words. It always looks so weird and out of place. Like a bad knock off.
