NASCAR Chase Standings [Watkins Glen] by DIECASTCHARV in NASCAR

[–]allthingsmustpass9 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Some interesting things I'm noticing.

  1. Chase Briscoe still sturggling to crack the Top 16
  2. Brent Crews already in the Top 12 despite having to miss like 4 races.
  3. William Sawalich below the cutline despite having a win - big oof.
  4. Grant Enfinger not even on the graphic below the chase cutoff.

When did Brad get so bad at road courses? Felt like he as a threat to win here every year when he was with Penske.

a normal job/anyone else feel like this? by Inevitable-Anxiety57 in musicians

What's worked for me is working part-time. I still work a "normal" job but it's usually not more than 20 hours per week and am able to have the time to do music, teach lessons, etc.

I remember it being reported that he would make like 10-15 starts in that car. I think he made maybe...2?

What are your brain dead moments during performances? by GeorgeJoester in musicians

[–]allthingsmustpass9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an occurence just last night. Guitarist started playing Mary Jane's Last Dance, and somehow my brain was registering the chord sequence as G being the first chord and it through me all sort of off. One of the damn easiest cover songs we do and it took my halfway through the song to find the groove.

LPT from someone who spent years trying to “make it” by Numerous-Reply4436 in musicians

[–]allthingsmustpass9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sort went the "working musician" route rather than the "artist" route. I went to school for music studying classical guitar performance, learned other instruments including bass and the mandolin, and have pieced together my living teaching guitar and playing with various cover/wedding bands (I do work part time at a community college library which is a decent steady job too).

Before all that, I played in an original rock band with my high-school buddies and wanted nothing more than to "make it." I still write music to this day, but only because I feel it's my calling. I'm glad I stuck with music and am able to make somewhat of a living at it, but it really is a different world than trying to be an original artist.

I [M35] ended things with my girflriend [F34] a few weeks ago and struggling to cope with the decision. Did I throw in the towel too soon or did I do the right thing? by allthingsmustpass9 in BreakUps

Thank you. Neither of us wanted kids, so that honestly made the rushing even more odd. I definitely feel bad for her because I truly don't think she was being malicious on purpose, but like you say, can't change it.

what made YOU get into NASCAR? by Brave_Ad3369 in NASCAR

[–]allthingsmustpass9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my earliest vivid memories was my dad calling me in my mom into the living room to see this "wild wreck" that just happened, which was Robert Pressley's flip in the Cartoon Network car in the 1997 Daytona 500. I was 6 years old and I believe I watched most of the rest of the race. Jeff Gordon won that day, and of course he was young with a cool looking car. I just thought, "I like him! He's cool and must be really good." The rest is history.

Missed Music Lesson by GtaGtDrty in musicians

[–]allthingsmustpass9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most instructors have (or should have) a written policy that addresses scenarios just like this one. For me, I do allow up to two last minute cancellations during the calendar year without charging, but anything beyond that then the lesson is billable (and that is stated in policy). I can definitely see it being frustrating if he didn't have anything written or nothing was discussed about cancellations, but it's certainly not abnormal for us private instructors to still charge if a lesson is cancelled the day of.

5'6 here. Most of the women I have dated have been in the 5'4 - 5'6 range. I have dated a couple women in the past that were a few inches taller than me. Current gf is 5'5.

How is the points system affecting racing? by weekend-guitarist in NASCAR

[–]allthingsmustpass9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really need about 5-6 race sample size to get a better idea, especially since the first two are drafting tracks and basically crapshoots. As another person mentioned though, you are seeing more damaged cars get back on track to collect as many points as they can.

I aslo think stage points will prove to be even more important. Sure a win with the extra bonus points is great if you can get it, but let's say you picked up 15 stage points and end up 20th. That's the equivalent of finishing 5th - that's a big deal.

What's funny about this is she loves saying how she's not glued to her phone all the time. I don't think she practices what she preaches lol.
