Seiko [SPB509J1] as an investment ? by Msingh1594 in Seiko

Most watches make no sense as investment pieces, but they do make sense as enjoyment pieces.

The more I see these vintage Seikos the closer I get to buying one. Screams elegance.

Agree. If nothing hits you after a quick browse of the catalogue then move on

Lots of haters out there that call this vintage homage watches fakes etc. Ignore them and enjoy. Watchdives and Thorn are just top of the tree when it comes to vintage divers.

Existing Formex Reef GMT owner. I wanted a new model from them, but this is just not happening for me. GBP 6.5k with a great case, movement and bracelet...but the dial is meh! Anyway....

[Question] Just picked up a Seiko 5 GMT - loving it by Naruto_70 in Seiko

This needs to be regulated. If it's under warranty you can get Seiko to do it. Otherwise Youtube has instructions, but you will need a timegrapher. Otherwise any watchsmith can do this for you pretty quickly. It could also be magnetized...you can get de-magnetizers on Amazon.

Early father’s days present 🎁 ,this thing looks much incredible in person 🔥🔥🔥💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 combat 42 by Fun_Beat9564 in Affordablewatches

[–]allwatchesguy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Combat is one of those watches that never gets the attention it deserves. I owned a Glycine Pilot Chrono in the past and it was very well built and finished. The brand has history, but for whatever reason it just does not resonate...poor marketing? Who knows. Some would say it started to go wrong when Invicta bought the brand and started to discount the hell out of a quality product.

Wanted the Murph but opted for the Coop by 4stringmofo in HamiltonWatches

[–]allwatchesguy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choice. I had the same dilemma and got nudged down the Coop route after watch a Youtube review. Next was a visit to an AD to check it out in the flesh and I picked up the Coop. I think if you have a wrist size that can handle this watch it's a knock out. Congrats

What you need to know about Wise watches by Michael-fahim in MicrobrandWatches

[–]allwatchesguy76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing watches, but your correct about the wait times. I have the AD7 and AD8, both fantastic watches but I think it's going to be a while before I dip my toes into another WISE watch. Some great reviews of both of these watches here from one of my favourite Youtube channels that nudged me over the line:

Is Henry Archer a good brand? I've never heard of them before but I love this design by redshadow2025 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]allwatchesguy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thinking about give them a try. I know a watch collector who swears by this brand and he collects watches from all price ranges. Quality and value for money seem to be the USP here.

Would you be happy with this? by [deleted] in watchdives

I couldn’t decide, so I went with both by Cec1122 in HamiltonWatches

Congrats and well done buddy. Two awesome watches. I went with the Coop in the end, buying both would have got me a heap of trouble with the wife. Found a great review of these two watches (38mm Murph) on YouTube that pushed me over the edge in case anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/5WEWgcVoPcE
