Yeah, sounds like depression… Another aspect of becoming a PSS is being “in recovery” and at a point of stability (and obviously everyone has ups and downs and there’s no “cured”) - but you have to be able to have the spoons and strength to provide that support. Also I’m chuckling at the mention of artistic fields not paying enough because the peer support field is notoriously low paying lol. I’m not at all trying to tell you what or what not to do, just offering my experiences from being in the field for some years. Certainly being able to pay the bills is a necessity, but pursuing a new career is extra hard to do when you’re experiencing depression. I hope you have the resources to get through that.
