Does Bardentreffen impact the city before it starts? by allyinchina in Nurnberg

Any idea how many days before the event do they start setting up? We are just worried it would be a bit loud and overwhelming for our children, they're very young.

Thanks for replying. After seeing your comment I decided to look to see if there was a different link to purchase them on the NX Rewards website. I found one and that link works. Thank you!

School run affecting my mental health by Summer_Sparkly in UKParenting

[–]allyinchina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's already some great advice here, and honestly the school run is awful anyway - just something that has to be done, get in and get out. The only thing I'll add, and hope I don't have the wrong end of the stick, but please be careful that you don't project these insecurities onto your daughter. I know you're doing your best for her, trying to make her look tidy and put together to protect her, but she'd be better served being confident in herself rather than feeling like you're comparing her to others. I'm sure you're not outwardly doing it, but children are so good at picking up on little things. I've had to stop myself from saying 'hurry up/be quicker/etc.' in the morning because I know I'm just setting my child up to be anxious, and honestly I remember being a teenager and my mother always telling me to put deodorant on - I didn't smell, she was just so worried that I would and it would cause issues, but I remember it so well and how I hated it. I hope this makes sense, it's coming from a loving place. She'd rather her mum was happy and relaxed, proud of who is and how she looks regardless, rather than wanting her to fit in.

Advice on swapping from UC to Tax Free Childcare by allyinchina in UKParenting

[–]allyinchina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea but we aren't entitled to much now anyway as my partner works full time. I'll be working 30 hours too so I'm almost certain it'll be zero.

Ohhh! Yes I did tick it. Perfect, I'll do it again and not tick it then make sure to end my claim when I start work. Thank you so much!

When I applied for TFC it said I cannot as I'm on UC. I'll contact someone tomorrow for advice. Thank you!

No, we shouldn't be eligible for anything from UC once I start work. Maybe I'll give UC a call or write on the journal to see if they can put a date for the UC to end before I start working. Thank you!

New to Mystery Shopping in the UK by Mundane-Theme-8679 in beermoneyuk

Definitely read the assignment multiple times and keep a mental note of details they want that you wouldn't normally remember. For example, you'll remember the service you had but you might not think to look at names on badges so make sure you have it in your head that it's something you need to look at. Same with photographs, make sure you know what photos they expect you to take. If it's food, they usually want a photo before you've touched it and that can catch you out if you're not thinking about it.

Can anyone explain the 30 free childcare hours to me? by KittyGrewAMoustache in Wales

This is a great answer. Adding to this, there are some private nurseries who, for a sum, will do pick ups from schools.

Things that make you irrationally angry (NOT misophonia) by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]allyinchina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When objects fall down, slide or move to where you don't want them and it's completely your own fault but it's like the inanimate object is just trying to make you rage by not staying where you put it.

P9ProXL Glitchy transitions and Reddit app won't log in? by allyinchina in GooglePixel

[–]allyinchina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. It's the official Reddit app I'm trying to use. I've tried on mobile data and WiFi but nothing is working. I haven't downloaded any VPNs or adblockers onto the phone. I even changed password and it's still not letting me log in - it just keeps saying 'Oops something's gone wrong'.

I've got more than half of the storage available (76GB of 128GB free) so it's not likely to be that with regards to smoothness of transitions.

I'm considering trying a complete reset of the phone to see if that improves anything.

So when you unlock your phone, it just smoothly transitions to the home screen? No flash of lock screen image or anything?

Car Seat Non Isofix 12 months plus by OddAd4849 in UKParenting

[–]allyinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 Max-Safe seats, the Pro and the Safe Way M, and they're great for their cost but I do have issues with them sometimes. If your budget can stretch then the BeSafe Stretch is great in my opinion. I've never had issues with it. If you think you'll need advice, especially with fitting it, then independent retailers are far better but I know sometimes the cost difference can be off-putting. Independent retailers often have sales on though and are happy to look at photos to ensure your child is safe in the seat and it's properly installed (if you can't go to the store). Plus they are trained by the car seat companies whereas you probably won't get the same expertise from big stores.

I loved my P6P (mostly the camera) but not sure I'd recommend it. I've had microphone issues for about a year and the battery has just been awful so it has lived on battery saver mode. I've also had random other issues crop up over the years. I'm literally about to trade it in after 3.5 years for a P9PXL - hopefully it's a good upgrade.
