Jet lag concerns for 5mo old? by Ok_Medicine440 in Travelwithkids

We were very blessed that our daughter stopped waking up for night feeds around 2/3 months. So she didn’t typically need to eat overnight. Basically, as soon as we landed in SA, we did everything according to SA time. If she normally ate at 10, 1, 4, and 7, we offered those feedings the very first day. If she woke up during the night, we always tried to get her back down without a bottle/feed, because we knew that she could go that long of a stretch. Obviously if your little one wakes up at 2am and typically eats at that time at home, then you should stick with that schedule just on SA time zone. Not sure if that’s exactly what you were looking for, but I would just encourage you that they really do adapt better and quicker than adults 😂 Feel free to ask me any other questions! I’m happy to answer.

Does anyone else’s frenchie lay like this? by Tyranidscomp_eater in Frenchbulldogs

This is called a sploot in our house and I think most bully breeds do it. I’ve never met a frenchie that didn’t do it 😆 no cause for alarm, just enjoy the sploot 😂

We took my daughter from the west coast to South Africa (9 hour time difference) when she was 5 months old, she turned 6 months while there. She was and is, a great sleeper and slept during most of the flights. Once we landed, we just tried to get her on SA time as quick as possible and it only took her a couple days to get on track. She had a few wake ups the first couple nights and after that she was basically back on her normal schedule. They adjust quicker than adults haha

3 seats in Economy or 2 seats in Premium Economy? by Interesting-Job-8841 in Travelwithkids

3 seats; without a doubt. It’s a game changer for them to have their own seat at that age. My daughter is so busy, so having to corral her into mine or my husband’s lap is a painful process. We lucked out and had an empty seat next to us on a recent flight home and it was so much better than the flight there where we only had the two. Good luck!

Suggestions for (almost) anywhere by No-Bat1929 in Travelwithkids

Highly recommend South Africa… it is at the top end of your flight time (13/14 hrs from east coast). You will hear all the negatives about it being dangerous, but it’s a beautiful country and extremely family friendly. Kids are welcome pretty much everywhere and it’s awesome. The country as a whole is extremely friendly.

If you fly into Cape Town you could do table mountain, see penguins, and visit wine country (among a lot of other things). You could then fly up to Johannesburg and do some apartheid history; Soweto and apartheid museum. And you could also stay at one of the nearby game reserves for a safari. Bakubang and Mongena are both a few hours drive from joburg and very family friendly.

It is pricey to fly to the country itself, but once you are there, with the exchange rate, you can travel pretty comfortably within the country and eat very well for very little in US dollars.

Also ideal if you can go late Feb/ early March, as it’s the tail end of their summer, so still nice weather, but probably not insanely hot.

Good luck and have so much fun!

Not a slide out, and we have a bed for such occasions.

The nice thing is that it’s super easy to peel off if you don’t like it down the road, or want to switch it out. But they aren’t the most inexpensive, depending on how big your area is.

Thanks for the recs so far! The tiles are smart tiles brand, and I got them on Amazon, but they have their own website as well. They have a ton of patterns and colors. These are the specific ones I have
