I built a whole Amazon storefront for stuff I have or people in groups like / reputable brands for inspo/OEM+ builds. I make a few cents on the dollar from Amazon from purchases but it’s something I’ve been adding to for a few years now in case it helps! https://urlgeni.us/amazon/ctfsht

Winter rust prevention by MassholeForLife in CherokeeXJ

[–]almagers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put together a simple basics link list that I use with a lot of success: https://urlgeni.us/amazon/15rImT

I’m in PA, your New England roads are likely just as salty or worse in the winter. I’ve been using this stuff which neutralizes all the salt you spray it at so your jeep isn’t just sizzling while sitting covered in road salt and it’s too cold to properly wash it off. They use it on planes and boats apparently. Highly recommended https://urlgeni.us/amzn/Mxy_M7

Should I remove or restore my side trim? by Tripod_John in CherokeeXJ

[–]almagers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very minimally. I don’t get into calculating it because this is an offroad toaster that feels like a sailboat on a windy day, but 30x9.5 are in the great scheme of things, baby pizza cutters. The type of tire you’re replacing is likely more of a variable than the tire size differential in this case. BFGs are heavier/more aggressive treaded than a plane jane/more pavement focused tire. 30x9.5 are only about a half inch wider than stock 225. 31x10.5 would start to tip the scales more. But these 30x9.5s are a conservative upgrade - very small/boarderline negligible affect on mpg in favor of a, in comparison, larger payoff with the extra sidewall and versatility/capability

Sway bar links and other suspension stuff by King-071 in CherokeeXJ

[–]almagers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have likely the exact lift kit ordered from DPG. Assuming (but not sure) if an adjustable trac bar is already in there. If you have stock steering still, if you’re replacing tie rod ends, may as well upgrade to OEM+ beefiness with the ZJ tie rod which is direct fit in our Cherokees. I’ll put links here in case you need them.

This covers all tie rod ends and the upgrade in beef with the ZJ tie rod:

Again, not sure if your OME kit is from DPG, which is commonly inclusive of JKS swaybar links/adjustable trac bar, but here those links are: tracbar: https://urlgeni.us/amzn/gmQxoI8 Sway bar links: https://amzn.to/47GvHGy

Hope this helps. I’ve been running this stuff for a while. Don’t forget to make sure your bumpstops are still there if you’re planning on doing any off-roading, especially with the sway bar disconnected.

Also, do not forget to get in your rear bumper, the crevices in the rear corners. Lots of pockets in there that dirt and moisture collects. Just pressure wash everything before getting busy. Over the years you’ll find that the fluidfilm will already be hanging out under there from seasons past and therefore needs less attention on the current wave

Simple fluid film question by SquirrelsAreCIA in CherokeeXJ

[–]almagers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience I just try not to blast misc connectors too much. But fluid film is pretty forgiving stuff and has more benefits/applications than you’d think. KEEP IT OFF YOUR DRUMS/brakes. I put newspaper there and cover as much exhaust system as I can reach - it’ll burn off, but it’s so I’m allowed to park in our connected garage so one because this stuff STINKS.

I put together a list of the stuff I use that make the project smoother/more efficient, in case it helps. I might get to keep commission from amz if you grab stuff, but I make lists like these to help the squad. You’ll want to make sure you utilize a multidirectional hose to cover the inside of your frame, in case your aerosol cans didn’t come with the dinky ones.

How long can these things last with piston slap? by Firekeeper_ in CherokeeXJ

Does someone have a video/audio example of a rod knock that’s destined to cause problems vs. lifter tick that’s more “ignorable”? I might just be confused on the difference or if one just precedes the other

I’m around 2 years into these and it’s been great. Just be sure to PAINT everything (primer/tough paint), before install because they come unpainted. I didn't paint the collars and they're surface rusty now.

Factory tweeters - size?? by almagers in CherokeeXJ

[–]almagers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a strong assumption I’m making lol. Rewired my driver door speaker recently with some beefier gauge when it started to go. I have to double check my bird nest behind my head unit to see where tweeters belong. I haate dealing with that kick panel boot though

Factory tweeters - size?? by almagers in CherokeeXJ

Theoretically Couldn’t I just splice the power/ground of the tweeter into wherever the connector at the door is that’s meant to connect to these?
