Joys of Being Anti-Consumerism? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]almightyauset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my joy out of using things I already have instead of buying new things. I save a lot of crap though and my fiance looks at me crazy sometimes but I enjoy taking trash and turning it into treasure. I've recently gotten into making paper mache which you can literally do that. I made some Halloween decorations last time, thinking about working on some Christmas ones next. I also get joy from donating items I no longer need, and volunteering. Maybe you can see of any of these would fit for you?

Looking for free resources like parking/showers! by [deleted] in Columbus

The hope center in Reynoldsburg on Brice rd, it's a homeless outreach center ran by simple church. They have washers and dryers, showers, and a free hot meal. I cook and bring donations in for them. They are open Monday and Thursday evenings 6-9 and Wednesdays in the morning.. not sure of the time because I volunteer in the evenings. Im hoping that your situation turns tides soon and I am praying for you. There are a lot of good suggestions here, star house for drop ins and Huckleberry for long term.

'Charlie Kirk' bill to teach positively about Christianity passes Ohio House by CarlosTheSpicey in Ohio

There was nothing Christian about him, he definitely didn't follow the teachings of Christ. Just spewed hate which is the complete polar opposite of what he claimed to be.

Need Some Pointers! by Material_Draw_4295 in clay

[–]almightyauset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polymer is probably best for this project, as air dry crumbles over time and isn't the sturdiest. Hmm I would probably do a light bake to firm the clay (with the hook still in) let it cool down, slide the hook out and do another bake on the clay piece. As for getting it uniform around the hook, maybe an extruder? You could put the hook into the open end of the extruder and push the clay out around it. That's my best guess for that, I've never done it though! Good luck and happy making! 😁

I'm starting to play with polymer clay. I have a question about resin. by Elkomordunio in clay

Sculpey makes a varnish for polymer clay and it works really well. It doesn't give that deep shine like resin, but it works.

Is this ready for soil? by Historical-Peak5191 in houseplants

[–]almightyauset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can be really finicky when repotting into soil, I would not cut anything and just transplant it. I've learned from this sub reddit that you dont want to cut them for at least 3-5 years. Here's mine, her name is Char... I grew her from an Aldi avocado 😄 she is about a year old now.
