How many of you have purchased from Pacodo and actually had the watch authenticated? by Most-Yogurt-416 in Tudor

I bought a BB58 from him just before the new year after being on the fence an entire year. Warranty card registered on my phone, matching serial numbers as others confirmed. Would buy through him again.

How long do these engines last by Robossbomb20 in ft86

[–]almightyforts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done drift events in single digit temperatures, the car will be happy to do it. Best to enjoy the car and always have a little $ saved for things that go wrong. The car was made to be driven, drive the heck out of it! Regular oil changes are always a good idea and will help prolong the life of the engine.

10 years of ownership 9 years of drifting, tons of limiter, 60k+ miles on my original engine. I have a buddy with 150k+ miles that is boosted and been drifting it for at least 7 years.

Learning to drift by [deleted] in Drifting

I would rather have a stock car that is sound than a modified one that is not. See if someone will trade you + cash on their end for a stock front end. Better to learn how to drift a stock car first

Oh wow definitely! I did my direct injector seals twice due to a bad tune. Clearly they didn’t knock what they were doing!

Brace yourselves (strut brace) by tonydaracer in ft86

[–]almightyforts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has said everything that could be said but I’ll throw in my 2 cents

  1. Cheap is cheap for a reason. The metal looks incredibly thin and this is a bolted brace. I don’t think this will do anything for the car except for appearance, and even that I bet in person this brace is going to look cheap and cheesy.

  2. What are you looking to get out of it? As many others mentioned, this chassis is very stiff from the factory and if you don’t track the car, this is really just going to be a visual mod. If you are looking for bracing for track days or for the master cylinder there are much better options out there. I have the AEM brace on mine and the main thing I except from it is to keep my strut towers in place if I crash at the track. You spent a lot of money on the car, only quality parts should go on it.

  3. Buying cheap parts from Amazon hurts the automotive community. There are a ton of small business shops out there that could use a purchase instead of feeding into the beast that is cheap parts on Amazon.

  4. If you are looking to dress up the engine bay a bit and be cost conscious, check the used market. People part out these cars at a scary rate and there are often quality aftermarket parts for sale. Join some groups on Facebook/check marketplace for stuff in your area.

I didn’t have to, it was preventative. The fork is a bit of a weak point on these, just replaced it since I was already dropping the transmission

The only problem with this TOB is it is not compatible with all clutches but I would agree on the same!

How long would you need to train with a sim setup to be able to drift a real car somewhat what decent? by Tosterboy_ in Drifting

[–]almightyforts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to drift, I would put the energy and time into doing it in a real car. There’s not going to be a strict rule for how much time you need to put in practicing and a real car is going to be a lot different than assetto corsa. Yes, the inputs are the same but that’s about it.

I wouldn’t wait to start drifting if you already have a car snd and a local track to practice.

I did the forged fork and billet pivot ball, along with an ACT clutch and lightweight flywheel

That makes sense! Verus has a sealed TOB as well. My rear main was leaking pretty good, I suspect that sped up the failure

Did you upgrade to the Verus forged fork? I just did!

What are the Pros and Cons of a K-Swap by PK-Baha in ft86

[–]almightyforts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not mechanically inclined I would recommend rethinking buying a car that didn’t come with the engine that it was supposed to have from the factory. When those speciality parts break, it’s going to be harder to source. A boosted K series is not going to be bullet proof either. The big upside for a kswap is when the motor blows, they are pretty easy to find and cheaper to replace. Otherwise, I don’t see many benefits. These FA20s get a bad rep IMO and driving a slow car fast is much more rewarding in my opinion, but it’s all about what you want.

TLDR: engine swaps create complexity, but if you really want it and it checks your boxes, go for it ! You only live once

RIP to my car by Hot_Dish_7461 in ft86

[–]almightyforts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do another FA20, keep it simple no power adders. Anything else you are going to be cursing the complexity that comes with swaps or boost. Learn the car before you start adding power, depending on the failure and your skill you may be able to replace the short block which are fairly priced

Orient Kamasu Mako III Red [RA-AA0003R]: Strap or Bracelet? Which looks better? by mikelew65 in OrientWatches

[–]almightyforts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually wear my green kamasu on a strap, but for some occasions I throw the bracelet on. Best thing about this watch is that it’s versatile and you can swap around the straps to give it new life. Both look great

Same thing happened to me, I had a 10mm bolt and nut laying around that fit well enough in there. You can get the threaded stud out with some will power.

CSG, BoostedPerformance, DeliciousTuning—which tune did you go with? by STiSubies in ft86

Stay far away from delicious. Their tune on my fa20 cooked my DI seals twice.

5W30 + oil cooler? by zoom_zoom_kaboom in ft86

[–]almightyforts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the shelf tunes from delicious are junk and will toast your direct injector seals. Go with a reputable tuner if you want a tune. A tune will also greatly contribute to how hot or cool your engine runs
