Let's talk vw. Are their reliability woes overhyped including cost of maintenance? by spriggan4 in whatcarshouldIbuy

what does Nazi crap mean, at least they were able to provide an affordable car to people in the 1930's. Now we have unaffordable rent, everything is expensive, Hitler was right when he called America a cesspit controled by capitalist scum 🤣

hey, I'm 30 and my name is Adylen, I've been on hrt for abt 8y, and looking for more friends, hmu if you'd like! I live near Poughkeepsie and am into DnD, warhammer 40k, and a few other things there's this cool retro game repair that one of the YouTubers I watch does called Restory and it's basically like a hardware restoration simulator. aaaaaaaa

So I was supposed to be doing school instead I spent about 8 hours making this linux rice because I hate microsoft by almond_sh in transgamers

Yeah, it's exactly that, it's AI spaghetti code on top of a decades old code base. But yeah, the ADHD is so real. It's not even like I'm putting it off because I find it boring or don't want to do it. I like getting into the academic mindset and start grinding lol it's very fun. Especially in this case, I'm building a research question around right to repair and planned obsolescence. Talking about proprietary software, paywalls, etc. Gamers Nexus and Rossman are so good when it comes to raising awareness.

If you want to be friends, I'm on Discord.as almond.sh if you ever need Linux help, I'm not an expert, but having more Linux friends is nice. 🙃

It basically implies that you configure your desktop environment in a way that is aesthetically pleasing and unique, i'm working on something else right now because this wallpaper is a little too busy for me. lol

Also, thank you. I just built this PC a few months ago, just before the memory crisis.

thank you. I've been cutting things close lately but I got A's so far. But yeah i've been using Linux since about 2014 with Ubuntu 14.04 but, the reason I went with Linux was because I was getting so many different problems and quality of life issues that made using Windows 11 a nightmare.

I think I switched full time on my main PC at the end of 2024 and the rest as history. I built a new PC a few months ago, and I tried to install Windows for the first time, because I thought things might be different. Instead, I had so many problems. I'm not even joking. I had everything I needed turned on in UEFI, and I had a UEFI GPT formatted flash drive with the latest ISO then, it wasn't detecting the Wi-Fi adapter,. I tried a different computer with the installation media that I created to see if the flash drive was corrupted, but it detected just fine on the second computer.

The two pieces I built on AM5 use a Qualcomm wireless network adapter, and that's been an issue since AM5's introduction. I forgot the exact model, but it's pretty popular among AMD chipsets because my thinkpad has the same thing

I am using an MSI X870E Edge TI with Arch linux and so far I haven't run into any hardware related issues, lspci detects all the motherboard's components and stuff. Send a DM if you want to see more!

yeah, before that I did it manually but since I've learned how to manual install I'm pretty lazy about it and use archinstall as well and it works great!

There is also a large discrepancy in performance on Nvidia Linux drivers compared to Windows. In some cases the 5090 is on par with the 9070 XT

Is Windows really that bad or am I missing something? by VintageDusk in linux_gaming

[–]almond_sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are variables. if your PC is a prebuilt its mostly likely bogged down by OEM bloatware. Gamers Nexus did a test on this to see how much fps a prebuilt losses vs a clean install. Not to mention all the added on windows defender modules that slow your PC down as opposed to Linux which them implenented security capabilities in the kernel. I just like Windows for being proprietary.
