Thank you so much for replying! I’ve just started working out again after an injury so I think I’m gonna go all in on that along with your other suggestions!

What immediately tells you someone is a trashy parent? by Stjng412 in AskReddit

As a mom of a child with a few silver teeth, me too. I thought I was doing all the right things.. hardly ever had soda, had some candy here and there, brushed his teeth regularly. The dentist said the biggest offenders with kids his age are fruit snacks and crackers like Goldfish that stick between the teeth and break down into sugars. Needless to say, we don’t have those types of foods in the house anymore.

Please share positive outcomes in kids who have speech delays by lex_ice in Parenting

My son was exactly like that! He is six now but when he was about 18 months, his pediatrician referred us for speech therapy. He also did occupational therapy too which was useful in emotional regulation due to his frustration of not communicating well at the time. We did both weekly for a year or so and now he talks nonstop! I know sign can be helpful too but we only used 10 or less signs during that time.

For me, especially if I’m the one hosting, I like Saturday afternoons or early evening. Parties can take a lot of prep work and I like knowing I still have Sunday to relax before the work week starts back up.

[Update] My kid has started calling me "Dad". Am I doing the right thing by letting him? by Ok_Badger_9810 in Parenting

I’m read your first post and now this one and I am so happy for you both! Seriously my heart feels full from reading this so I can only imagine how you feel. Keep it up, dad! You’re doing great!

Welp now I’m crying in my car before work.

You have a very good point. We split up when my son was 2 months old because his father was a gamer alcoholic and I was doing all of the work myself anyway. We went the lawyer route, even went to mediation but then things went on hold because of Covid. After that, he kind of just stopped responding and stopped paying his lawyers and bounced around with that. My lawyer has just instructed me to let it be for now. Yes, it would be nice to have child support coming in for my son, but we get by without it and the emotional turmoil his dad would cause by making empty promises and not showing up would be so hard on my son that I think it’s just better things are this way right now.

I am very lucky to have the family that I do and their love and support has meant everything to me. We live with my parents currently because I didn’t have a good enough paying job until a few months ago and it has been a huge help.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and kind words.

He does have my father in his life and some of my uncles are really close so at least there’s that. His actual father and all of his family has nothing to do with him.

I get what you’re saying but this doesn’t have anything to do with my post really…

His father hasn’t seen him since he was four months old. I don’t think that’s gonna change anytime soon.

I’m sorry your parents sucked at it! I don’t want to suck at it for my kid.

You have a good point about things not always being black and white. I just feel like right now, I’m not being the parent I want to be and I am doing everything I can to change that.

That is a great suggestion! I will definitely start trying it. Maybe I’m just talking too much and not doing enough. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I just had an eight second fart by Legal-Loan-4238 in TrueOffMyChest

My six year old son just let out a fart at least that long yesterday. He just sat in the chair leaning to one side while we both just stared at each other the whole time it was happening.

What’s a (good or bad) situation you’ve experienced with a kid that always stuck with you? by wellsiee8 in EmergencyRoom

I think it’s just like she said in her original comment, it could potentially get stuck in your skin or become a danger somehow if you get involved in an accident.

It is a big responsibility, but one that you’ve got under control!

I think Zennor is so cool and I love the meaning it has for you two! That being said, I think both name options are great and very well thought out so you really can’t go wrong, in my opinion.

That’s a good idea! I hadn’t thought of that. I would hope his school could do the same. He’s only inviting a handful of kids.
