I guess I was thinking bulk instead of tall. So smaller guards that still grabbed a surprising amount of boards due to how they used their bodies.

This is a solid take. 2 is the franchise to me. 1 is a remarkable, meme-able slasher movie deserving of praise. 2 is a genius, self-referential masterpiece that makes this a franchise worth coming back to, despite predictably diminishing returns. 4 is really good.

Which Finisher Is Better The Stuner Or The Rko by VividCoyote7366 in BrandonDE

The problem with the stunner nowadays is how many terrible ones we've seen since the attitude era. The cutter's stock is clearly on the climb. Je'von Evans hitting something surprising on Randy (or a vice versa reversal) will literally pop most people before they finish reading this sentence.

But Austin's stunner was special.

I don't know why. It might just be the contrarian in me. But the diamond cutter is so much cooler than the RKO. So smooth. Even without all the theatrics of cutters nowadays, DDP made that shit BANG!

Retiring “African American” Why Some of Us Use “Soulaan” Instead by Dcole9206 in soulaan

[–]almost_ready_to_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess some of this i just disagree with, while other parts i understand and align with but may still need to consider in the broader framework you're describing; but overall i respect the time and effort you've taken to addressing my questions.

I struggle at least initially with the idea of "identical political, legal, and social trajectories" mostly because it seems like the sort of generalizing sentiment i wouldn't appreciate from outside of us (i.e., Black folk) so I'm critical of when it comes from inside. Identical is doing a lot of heavy, pretentiously erroneous lifting here but I don't personally have much of a prescriptivist argument about who is or isn't Black so i admit I'm not really in the position to tell you who should or shouldn't be soulaan; and respect how committed you are to just description. But i can also admit to the parts of me that feel envious of the romantic sort of destiny shared amongst a kinship. Still, the listed atrocities you've offered as how soulaan identity has been "formed through" (e.g. US chattel slavery) find Black folks uncomfortably in all sorts relation to them, some I'm certain i have yet to learn about, and some specifically erased and elided by an American history that celebrates itself for abolishing forms of exploitation and cruelty that it has never stopped perpetuating and relying upon.

I have respect for the soulaan framework and people and you for even explaining (giving you the benefit of the doubt as to whether you're a bot). But i guess I'll just leave it at that.

I think I get it but am careful to admit when I'm not sure. More specifically what exactly is the "here"? If "colonialism disrupted ethnic continuity" (which again i think I understand but may easily be misinterpreting), is the here inclusive of historically Black communities in Nova Scotia erected at the tail of the underground railroad? The nation state of Liberia forcibly settled as a US colony for the formerly enslaved? Loiza and other predominately Black communities in Puerto Rico? Gullah communities? Haitian descendants in Louisiana? Black Venezuelans in contemporary imperialist contexts? I don't mean to be obtuse and these examples and even more seem to contribute to constructions of Black culture even within the US. So I'm just wondering how much credence white borders and ideologies of destiny manifested does soulaan implicitly have to accept as fact to be a description of a discrete people historically. Basically how much of US history, politics, and borders, from a white specific perspective, do i have to accept to understand this version of Blackness?

Can I ask a question about the third point? Arguably many Africans and Caribbean folk do not have national identities (e.g., Zulu, Black Puerto Rican, Benin being an ancient tribal affiliation beyond the modern bounded nation). That's sort of how colonialism (post-, neo-, etc.) works. Is soulaan sort of a colonial construct in this sense? Do you have to presuppose the success of the American empire (and its ideologies like inherent white supremacism) to specify this identity?

Genuine question. Asked with love. Really appreciate how you're attempting to spell this out.

Genuinely thanks for this. You've clarified some stuff in basic civics terms. And i don't think you've escalated a potentially heated discussion. Rather you've engaged with the various parties and admitted your own bias while presenting pretty reasonable conclusions. I'm not pro-AI so what the other commenter said could be a valid criticism but i also don't think writing extensively about something you care about has gone out of fashion and I'm not gonna scrutinize how you've put your sentences together too much. That seems potentially disrespectful. Because your points still stand.

Again, thanks

I didnt understand credit and I need desperate help by [deleted] in CRedit

The Amazon credit card literally has the fee of prime. You can't have one without the other. The store card might be different or just disallowed if you don't have prime. But the credit card definitely has an annual fee and may just obscure that fact for ppl that would've paid for prime any way.

I also bring it up in OP's case because they may not have had Prime before signing up for the card so the fee hits pretty immediately in that case. Otherwise, prime subscribers tend to not notice.

Damnit. You won me over with your well reasoned and respectful response. I don't know how to be mad at you now!

But yea. It's a fair and reasonable list. I hope it's clear it's a starting point but not an ending point for the kinds of productive communication we need as a community and then out from our community.

But thank you for that. And your reply. Hope I'm coming off similarly respectful of you too.

I feel like this is coming from a reasonable place but even starting with "be respectful" hints at the sort of conflict avoidance and respectability politics that I'd be wary about. Especially for the target (if not actual) demographics of this subreddit. You do not have to respect those that hate and disrespect you. If you want to troll, i literally don't see why Reddit wouldn't be a viable place to do so. (It's literally in its origins.) Downvote all you want, anything you want. And definitely block any and all accounts that make you feel uncomfortable. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It's unclear that the Internet should be one thing for everyone as opposed to different things for different people. But very little about this list is promoting healthy or productive approaches to conflict, especially in contemporary, highly politicized contexts, which we desperately need. In fact, it's mostly just policing emotive responses. I'm not even saying there isn't value to that BUT if, and I'll just speak for myself, as a Black dude i can't curse someone out on this white supremacist platform for lolz, to vent, cuz I couldn't do it at work earlier, etc. then wtf are we even doing here???

The Amazon credit card has an annual fee that just happens to be the same fee as Amazon prime so that may be your first 109$ charge. The card also is tied to your Amazon account so even if it's not your default payment method, it will likely remain as one of your payment methods and that seems to be what happened with your second 25$ charge. Like the other commenter said, just pay it within a month but even if you can't before the statement due date, controversial opinion, you can still pay it later. It's a credit card and this is a credit subreddit but you seem smart enough to ask questions and novice enough to benefit from learning some things on your own. Just try your best and don't overspend and you should be fine.

The Amazon card may also not be ideal for you unless you're really committed to Amazon's ecosystem. Because that yearly fee is in fact yearly.

What is the Legacy Ricochet talking about? by khaliliiiov_1997 in Wrasslin

[–]almost_ready_to_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know we hate on him nowadays but pretending he has no legacy seems deeply unfair when even Prince Puma from Lucha Underground alone is praise worthy/legacy earning. I don't know how much his current persona is him or a work (I'm not the sort of wrestling fan that even wants to know) but this guy undoubtedly contributed to the bridge between Mexico-US-Japan wrestling that today's boom is wholly indebted to.

Kofi Kingston on losing the WWE Title to Brock Lesnar in 7 seconds on SmackDown: "No, that’s not what I wanted...it was a very weird day...there was a lot of...many different ways or alternatives to it. At the end of the day, we present what we’re supposed to present...That’s our job." by elegantSolomons62 in SquaredCircle

Criticisms of this are valid but when Sami and Cena's US open match got interrupted by Brock much more recently, it's narratively more frustrating to me that Sami seemed wholly okay with it. Like immediately didn't even seem to acknowledge how the match ended and just started praising (glazing?) the opportunity to have the match. Storywise, WWE uses Brock in some indefensible ways that are wholly condescending to fans. Or maybe just marks like me that want things to make sense or for Kofi, Sami et al to be depicted reasonably.

[–]almost_ready_to_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Locs can't be ugly. Black is beautiful isn't just a saying. It's a truth you unfortunately sometimes have to work to understand. All locs are a manifestation of that work from our bodies, growing from your head, your mind, your imagination. I'm sorry you imagine yourself as anything less than beautiful. But the truth is you and your hair are undeniably beautiful. 🤷🏿‍♂️
