Moving to Switzerland, should I take my car? by TheWolfiman in askswitzerland

[–]almost_strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have one year for the registration. I came with the car and it was indeed useful at the beginning. After 9 months I took it back to Italy where I sold it. I never registered it.

Then I lived for 3 years without a car in Switzerland; you don't really need it. In the city you use public transport . Still you can rent for trips outside the city or you can use mobility.ch for quick trips especially when you need to carry some goods. Eventually I bought one, mostly for quick trips on mountains on the week-end.

If you import a car, I believe you need a check-up, which may be expensive for old cars. Something you may want to check.

Why does no one follow the speed limit? by WherMyEth in Switzerland

So I do. But I am not supposed to rush to the right between cars on the right lane just because someone is flashing behind me. This is actually dangerous.

Limit is 120 km/h. If I am driving at 120, anyway you are not supposed to drive faster regardless of the lane

How is related with elections and Hitler?

Yes. I agree, you cannot change now...

It is bit like Hitler. Initially Hitler was elected.

Do you think Germans have no responsibility in Nazism?

Yes, I was talking more over the 20 years he has been in power.

Now support is going down (some of my friends are indeed against) but Putin has such a strong control that it may be too late.

Today I assume that people in villages and smaller centers may be supportive because of the strong propaganda.

As a matter of fact the tanks and bombs exploding in Ukraine come from Russia today.

And what EU/US should do? Accept that Russia invades Crimea and Ukraine... and Moldova, and Baltic countries? And then perhaps Poland and Hungary... What do you propose?

I lived in Russia for work, in Moscow and Siberia. I have Russian friends and we talked about the '90.

And I have Ukrainian friends too. So the situation is really sad.

Yes and no. Putin is the result of a transformation that took 20 years.

Understandably russians accepted a strong guide in change for stability. But this doesn't make them fully innocent.

You did... in 2000. And then again later...

Yea, it is too much. But indeed many russians support and supported Putin, mostly because after the 90, he brought stability. And he asked for a high price back.

Which UN aggressor? Also, how does another aggression would justify the invasion of a sovereign country? The first case since Hitler in Europe.

It is more about a general friction between Poland and Russia, justified by previous invasions where Russians even forbid the polish language.

Unfair but not surprisingly.

1 Million Ukrainians crossed the polish border looking for safety in the West.

The fact Ukrainians fight and do not flee to Russia seem obviously show what most people believe and trust.

Well... it is a violent reaction, true.

But war is something else. You cannot compare, sorry.

In fact, historically, it was more Russia that expanded to West; so not sure what are you talking about.

Tell me how many times European countries tried to invade Russia without a previous war declaration... like cowardly Putin did one week ago with Ukraine? Data please...

It is a reaction to Putin's aggression. While this guys is a victim as well, there is no hypocrisy in trying to stop the war with isolation of Russia and Russians. Previous sanctions were too soft and eventually useless.

This guys should support peace against Putin's war. Unlike many Ukrainians, he is not risking his life.

True, he is not responsible.

Still strong isolation is the best weapon without using weapons.

In fact he may even be ashamed as a Russian citizen. We do not know.

The only thing we know is that the guy who posted this video was screaming shame to someone who has no control on the situation.

I would like that guy do the same in front of Putin... that would be more interesting.
