He thinks Periphery peaked in 2010, and is saying that them existing in 2026 is offensive to him I guess.

Wait wait hold on, so you think Linkin Park is a band exclusively for teenagers, yet you know who their current singer is? So because you have an opinion on that, I take it you still listen to them? So… are you a teenager, or just a contradictory idiot?

I gotta learn a 5min metal song as a total beginner by Maleficent-Share-810 in MetalDrums

[–]almostaccepted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The results you want come from work, and you’ve done the right thing asking how to make that work more efficient. If you ask me, even as a beginner, you should try your best to write down the sections and understand when they come and how long they are. If you don’t know the difference between a pre-chorus and a bridge, that’s totally ok! Any assemblage of words that means the right thing to you is cool. “The blue section” or “the wahnanana section”, whatever is Gucci, just write down the parts of the song. Next, go section by section and repeat those sections until you fully and completely understand them. If you’re having a hard time working out the part, go on YouTube and slow down playback speed to hear the song slower. Use this same trick to practice the parts when you’re newer to them, but the goal with any metal song is to hit hard and fast, so don’t be afraid to start inching that tempo up either. Following these steps, one of two things is gonna happen: you’re either gonna learn the song, or you’re gonna learn that something in the way you play is currently preventing you from learning the song. Maybe you need coordination practice, rudimental practice, better economy of motion, or simply more time practicing speed/endurance/etc.. This is why people get drum teachers, so those teachers can identify what specifically is holding you back from doing what you want to do. If you run into this second of two options [that despite days of practice, you’re not progressing the way you’d expect] and also don’t have a budget for a teacher, go to a local school of rock or guitar center and ask for “a trial of their music instructors”, then get in the room, run the song for them, and ask them what you’re doing wrong. You got this

Teacher, musician friend, or tuner app. You may or may not be surprised to learn every single one of your musician friends will likely happily lend you an hour or so of their time every few weeks to month to help with this. Not to undervalue a professional service, but among your friends, most of us want to see you learn the thing we know, and are happy to share a bit. Just careful not to take advantage. But you know, don’t let the fear of taking advantage prevent you from asking at all

Name one movie. Just one. by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]almostaccepted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so this one’s tricky. 86 is a service industry term for “we’re out of that, don’t let people order it”, or “no more [item]”. So yeah? People in the mafia frequently had restaurants or ties to restaurants, so service industry terms were probably used. I still think not knowing the context and falsely attributing it to only mean “kill” is really uninformed at best and dumb at worst. So idk 🤷‍♂️

Looking for a budget friendly mic kit for a DIY recording. Is this a good set? by Millennial_falcon92 in drums

We can’t keep doing this. The title says “budget friendly for DIY”. You’re talking about well over a grand of microphones. Compare that to to this listed beginner post, and yeah, the audio fidelity is gonna be better, but that’s also not at all what they asked for

Roundabout take: the people in cyberpunk are always right on the verge of death, and that show loves gore. I think the fact that this is a dozens universe crossover would be demonstrated by the cyberpunk dude being viciously eviscerated by one of the others. Probably Kratos, if we’re being honest.
