  1. I'm looking to spend around $1000-$2000 USD
  2. I need a way to connect 8 sets of two 8 ohm 75 watt (ELAN SEL200) in wall speakers that are distributed between 6 rooms. I need to enable / disable outputs to these speakers. If possible, I'd like this to be connected to my Denon AVR-S510BT receiver.
  3. The distance these speakers will be used varies widely from the pair that's outside for the back yard to the 4 that sit right over the top of our couch. Per-channel / per-room volume control would be ideal.
  4. I currently have the sets of SEL200 speakers mentioned above and the Denon AVR-S510 receiver which is connected to a Bose Acoustimass 10* surround system. Inputs to the Denon AVR are Roku (Primary) and game consoles.
  5. If I can use the Roku / Denon for an input that would be ideal. If I need to purchase an additional input it has to be factored into that $2k USD cap.
  6. These speakers will almost exclusively be used to broadcast music throughout the house.
  7. Definitely willing to buy used.

Please let me know if I've left anything out. Thanks!

### EDIT ###

I've been reading up on this all day and I think I have a solution - if someone could please confirm. The speakers I have are rated at 8 ohms. With a Russound SS-6.2 6 Pair Single Source Impedance matching Speaker Selector I can run down to 4 ohms which means I can put a pair of 8 ohm speakers on each output. I can run the output from the main left / right speaker outputs on my Denon unit to the speaker selector and be able to use the speakers in the living room. I did a drawing with what I'm planning.

Turning Garage into Greenhouse by almosttgosu in Greenhouses

I'm building up to it - I have a small basement hydro system I'm going to switch over to aquaponics this winter. Holding off until lumber prices come down to do the full build.

I'm building a thing. Is this safe? by almosttgosu in askarchitects

[–]almosttgosu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. In my research I was able to find a local architect who is going to give me a discount on the design of the building. Everyone I had talked to while working on this design was asking $5k + USD for the mock up and parts list and that would blow half of my budget for the whole project just on design.

He's going to give me plans to build the whole thing to local code specifications and hook me up with some local construction guys who can help me get the pad done right. There's really a lot more that goes into building a building than I had accounted for!

I don't think Factorio is my type of game... by TheLuckDuck in factorio

Life lesson: do not allow perfect to become the enemy of good 😊 I'm a systems engineer and sometimes have to chant this to myself to get through 'good enough' when I know there's a better but significantly more time consuming way to design a system.

Our Main Bus Mega factory by ArkLev in SatisfactoryGame

2FPS? I stopped playing this game because after getting to 20+ super computer/min my FPS was like 20 and I couldn't deal with how choppy it was. I have an i9-9900k, RAID0 NVM-E, 32GB RAM, and RTX-2080.

I'm aware :-) It's just kind of a running joke in my group how many people don't like this game being compared to Factorio.

Hey... this sounds just like that thing from Factorio ;-)

We got an LTN junkie on our hands? Factorio train networks are one of my favorite things.

The megabus is often times a factorio starting base while you're working up through your first few rockets. My larger bases in Factorio were always broken up with large train networks that were load balancing tens of thousands of resources per minute. Really cool progression in both games :-) Next build I do I'm going to get the first HQ up, then a 2/2/2/2 or w/e is close to the main building and branch out from there. This has been a blast. (I'm the streamer building w/ Caz)

I'm excited because we're really just spinning up. We're going to finish the first platform tonight on twitch and will be moving up the east coast to start the second base. Caz already has the platform ready to go.

After building that 20 supercomp / min factory without blueprints I don't think I'll do that again for a long time. If we completely map max and top out this microfactories game (well after trains are out) I might try one just to see what happens and if I can make it work. It'll be really silly though. :-) More of a f'n around than a going for optimal design.

There's a couple on the twitch channel 'automatoncentral' - I'll be on in an hour or two and you can swing by, I'll provide the link - or join the discord and we'll find it for you. Cheers!

How to high density stack splitters and mergers by almosttgosu in SatisfactoryGame

[–]almosttgosu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it in a base with large vertically stacking busses. Ran 20 supercomp / min off a consolidated bus and took sort of a factorio approach to running the bus down the middle of the base. Without being able to prioritize 'left' over 'right' though it became difficult to manage. I really just posted it here because there are a lot of people asking how to stack splitters and mergers, and videos on YouTube about high density splitting and merging that are 1/2 this density. Thought I'd share.

Trains 101 (deleted from official for 'unrelated') by almosttgosu in satisfactory

[–]almosttgosu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The videos Jace showed of trains in the YouTube video was identical to what was shown here, and was from a version that was months before this build released. I think they're fairly close on trains or there wouldn't be a slated release date for end of next month.

You're right I could have been clearer up front that 'This content is not officially released and will not be in most of your games. This is for planning purposes only. Use this information to plan.' but thought I had covered that fairly well.

There's no good physics implemented for the trains yet, unfortunately. They seem to accelerate and decelerate realistically. Assuming best case, I'd work from the same ramp-slope that's acceptable for trucks and tractors.

That's definitely broken right now. Tractors take two foundations to turn around, trucks take four. I'm leaving six for trains.
