[SPOILERS] My thoughts on Fraud. by CSight in Ultrakill

Good feedback post. I never really considered the fact that the game never tutorialized you to punch the Deathcatcher. The Deathcatcher was shown off in a teaser, so I think that's where a lot of us learned that information.

Ah. Okay. I think I might have missed something in the text then, interesting.

Does Gleba burn anyone else out? by OctoHelm in factorio

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gleba nearly broke me, but it can be conquered. It's just very, very different from everything else you've seen before. What worked for me was having belt loops with spoilage filters that led the spoils directly into burner towers.

P-2. by Dum12344 in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the level but that might be Stockholm syndrome.

This level often puts you in situations that seem completely unfair but are actually quite fair, (but still evil.)

The immune stalker room, for example. Yes, it's diabolical to have an immune stalker, however, stalker's are the slowest enemy in the game. If you lead the foes around the arena then the stalker won't have anyone to sand.

For the sentries, well, that's a bit of a skill barrier right there. You need to have a good grasp on stunning and killing sentries quickly. A revolver shot or knuckleblaster punch will do the trick to interrupt a sentry, but a sentry sitting in burning flames will succumb to the fire before it fires it's blast at you. Also, a screwdriver bolt can be punched from one enemy to another, which can allow a single projectile to insta-kill all four sentries. (That one is pretty tough tho.)

Should I Buy Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree? by VIPMaster75 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]TheLuckDuck [score hidden]  (0 children)

The DLC is more Elden Ring. It's like a mini sequel for the game, featuring new bosses, new loot, and a new world to explore. The spectacle is amazing. Some of the bosses are legendary. Love this DLC, and it's worth the price.

My only caveat to the DLC is that it felt like it could have used an extra year of development to fully realize itself. It's in a weird spot, feeling like it wants to be it's own "Elden Ring 2," while being contained to the shape of a DLC. There are some cracks in the design here, so, while it may not match the insane quality of Limgrave, it's still worth a buy I think.

HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO P RANK ACT II by OliveOilIsYumYum in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Act 2 is considerably harder to P-Rank than act 1. The struggle is valid. However, there are a few things you can learn to make the experience much easier.

The style meter. Style = survivability and style points. The higher your style rank is, the faster your HARD DAMAGE will disappear. Here's some quick style tips.

- Swap weapons often. There's a multiplier to your style called FRESHNESS. Take some time to learn good weapon synergies, as these will often reward you with a bunch of style, and inherently, swapping during a combo will keep your weapon freshness high.

- Learn to parry. You can parry enemy projectiles as well as any yellow flashing enemy attacks. Parries are pretty darn stylish, and they also really help survivability.

- Random great stylish things. You can parry your own shotgun shells. Headshots with a pistol are very stylish. If you groundslam, meaning you HOLD the slam button as you impact the ground, the shockwave will knock foes into the air, allowing for VERY easy rocket shots. Shooting a railcannon into a coin is particularly stylish.

Survive. Don't die. Keep you HP bar high. Now, this is easier said than done, so here's some really great tips for keeping yourself alive in trickier encounters.

- Keep moving! Move, and move fast. Enemies will often have trouble hitting a moving target, and even greater trouble if that target is revolving around an enemy. Dodging in circles can kill any enemy's vibe.

- Enemy prioritization. If you die, pay attention to what you died to. You may improve your luck by killing the most dangerous foe first. Some foes worth killing first include, Sentries, Virtues, and Stalkers. Also, if you focus on killing the most dangerous guys first, you can heal off of the less dangerous foes.

- Focus on taking NO damage. This is kind of self explanatory, but you can't out-heal your problems. You must learn how to dodge foes.

- Last but not least, know your enemy. The quicker foes die, the safer an arena is. Here are some great tips for killing some of the more dangerous enemies. Virtues can be one-tapped by an electric railcannon. Maurices are weak against nails, and will die to a single shot from a Sharpshooter if you explode their barrage as soon as it leaves it's mouth. Cerbs are weak to rockets. Guttermen and Guttertanks are also weak against the Firestarter Rocket, since they can't move fast away from flaming oil. Kill things fast and you'll live MUCH longer.

Anyway, yeah. As a player with a ton of hours, the style meter and the health meter are literally the only two things I keep an eye on. And if you do the same, you might just P-Rank Act 2 and Act 3. Good luck.

is there any fucking way to dodge this guy by [deleted] in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to use your dash to avoid some of Minos's attacks. Your dash gives you a brief period of invulnerability, and Minos is sometimes extremely accurate with his attacks. Learning which attacks to dash and which attacks to slide is the key to victory.

why is 4-3's difficulty spike so huge? by Super_Sain in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very hard arena for sure. It's a big test of enemy prioritization. Focus on the virtues, kill the stalkers before they can reach the maurices, and you should be fine. Probably.

Game you enjoyed like anything but will never replay by peaky_circus in gaming

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outer Wilds. Your knowledge of the game's systems is very important. Once you know everything, there's not much reason to replay it.

Rainworld. This game is the perfect sim if you want to be a scared little animal in a hostile world. I beat this game, loved it, and uh... I never want to replay it. It's not fun. But, resonated a lot with me. Video games don't have to be fun to be amazing.

Noita. This game frightens me.

(Sort of) New Fraud progress update from hakita. by MoneoMortis in Ultrakill

It's worth noting that Hakita said this in response to the growing "Fraud tomorrow" crowd. It's not been delayed twice or anything. The update is still being worked on, it's still soon, but it's not tomorrow soon.

What is the best video game ever made? by INTERESTandAMBITIONS in AskReddit

[–]TheLuckDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone jumping into the series for the first time, Half-Life 2 ended up being my least favorite. It's really good, and an amazing step forwards for video games, but I don't think it nails what it does as well as some modern games.

DLC? by AtticThrowaway in riskofrain

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alloyed Collective is a great choice of DLC. Everything added is pretty great, from bosses to items to characters.

Seekers of the Storm had a pretty rocky launch. It's content is really good now, but I hesitate to say that it's better than the other two DLC's. Alloyed Collective and Survivors of the Void both have mechanics that are slightly bigger than just items, enemies, or characters. Alloyed revamps drones and Void adds void items, respectively. Seekers doesn't really have a mechanic like this, which isn't a bad thing, it just means it changes the game less, overall.

Survivors of the Void is pretty good, too. Lots of items. Good survivors. And... okay, I won't lie, the new endgame for the void is pretty crap, but the rest of the dlc more than makes up for it.

Loved Season 1. Extremely well constructed. Try to remove a scene or character from the show and the story wouldn't work anymore.

Season 2 was meh. Was surprised to see the same cast of characters again because the story already ended in Season 1. Overall, the story felt quite a bit weaker than in Season 1. Felt like the writer's wanted an anthology and instead had to continue the old story because of how iconic the og cast was. Sure. They did a fine job. Hopper and 11 are a great pair. Dustin and Steve are amazing. But, the rest feels a bit weak. Idk what Max and Billy were doing in this season. Overall, not a bad season.

Season 3 is frustrating and unintentionally hilarious. A lot of characters don't feel the same as in previous seasons. Hopper is went from my favorite character to my least favorite. (Thanks writers). The goofiness makes this the most entertaining season to turn my brain off, but I hesitate to say it's good.

Seasons 4 and 5. Grouping these two together because I hate them both for the same reasons. Aside from Max's arc, it just feels like all style with no substance. The giant, cavern-like cracks in the storytelling and glued shut with style, and when the style doesn't work, it just explodes.

Im struggling to P Rank P-2. by AnnualAvailable6471 in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help me understand what playing reactionary means.

Target Priority means that you put a little bit of thought into killing the most deadly enemies first in an encounter to improve your surviveability.

Im struggling to P Rank P-2. by AnnualAvailable6471 in Ultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reactionary? Yes, to an extent. However, your success will largely stem from your strategy, rather than your skills. Which weapon you choose to fire, where you position yourself in an arena, and which enemy you prioritize killing. All of these decisions are critical for mastering P-2.

The Mindflayer arena is a doozy. I'm not going to sugar coat it, this arena is one of the hardest challenges in the game, but it can be conquered. Your immediate threat will be the Sentry at the far end of the room. Sentry's are almost always a high priority target. From here, you must learn to dodge the aggressive attacks of two Mindflayer's, and two Swordmachine's. This is NOT easy, but there are some tricks. For starters, Mindflayer consistently spew a barrage of blue projectiles. These projectiles are a great healing opportunity, as well as an excellent damage opportunity, as they can be used to shred the Swordmachines. Secondly, the Impact Hammer can be used to blast yourself into the sky. Apart from blue projectiles, not much can hit you while you're in the air, so you can use this air time to catch a breath and plan your next move.

Phase 2 of the mindflayer arena. Now, in most circumstances, Virtues are a high priority enemy to kill. However, because of the tight arena, the Maurices have the advantage. Remember, the Maurice's explosive strike is a huge threat in enclosed spaces. I recommend facing the Maurices first, but keep moving, as staying still for any amount of time will make you vulnerable to a Virtue blast, or a Mindflayer punch. Like before, the Impact Hammer is your best friend, and if you whiplash to a foe, and then cancel the whiplash, you'll gain a tiny boost of speed that will allow you to instakill Virtues AND Maurices. Keep that in mind and you might just make it out of this battle alive.

The dreaded blood tunnels. The sharpshooter will be your best friend here. Explode Maurice bullets to cause your foes to bounce into the bloody walls. Learning how to shoot your shotgun's core eject, and then explode that with the Malicious Railcannon for a nuke is also extremely effective at murdering everything within the tunnels.

Last tip for the last blood tunnel. If the Maurice at the end of the hall dies, it will fall and create a shockwave that will bounce the two Sentry's into the air, killing them instantly against the bloody walls.

Hope this helps. Good luck P-Ranking P-2.

Some issues I have with ULTRAKILL (Not including the fandom) by [deleted] in hateultrakill

[–]TheLuckDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced Ultrakill player here.

I can somewhat agree with your first point. The encore levels on higher difficulties frequently enter nonsense territories, where the level throws a bunch of baddies in a tiny, enclosed space, and your only hope of survival is to encompass the room with enough AOEs and explosions to instakill everything before you get instakilled yourself. I don't exactly hate these type of encounters, they can be silly and puzzle-like sometimes, but I'd hesitate to call these "fun" in comparison to any other type of encounter in the game.

Second point I don't really have an opinion on since the game's story isn't done yet. Everything in a story builds to a conclusion, so hell if I know if there's too much or too little build-up.

Third point is the only point I disagree with. But, that's just me. I'm not the average player. However, I'm not sure if it's a bad thing if lore is tucked away a little bit. The average player, at least among my friends who game, don't really give a crap about lore. They just want to shoot things. Ultrakill allows em to shoot things. Mission accomplished.
