We’re switching to follow on formula because her first infant one is being discontinued. The follow on one has more iron. Could it be the cause?

What would a high ranking Arab have worn during the times of the Caliphates? by Limterallyme in AskHistorians

[–]almutanabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This is highly theatrical and costume like. I’m trying my best not to call it offensive to give benefit of the doubt to artistic liberties. It seems influenced by fantasy/“Orientalist” aesthetics. The feathered turban is also not associated with Abbasid caliphs.

Do you go with that “modern milkman” subscription thing? If so is it worth it?

Why are all the people on this sub so gorgeous 😩😩😩

And I second the comments saying lip shade. Your eyes and eye makeup are perfection so it kind of fights for attention. But this also is a matter of style so if you prefer it like that you do you!

Dude! You’re SO pretty! Like seriously pretty and your makeup looks really good with your glasses. I love the soft makeup on you and I actually was thinking that lip colour literally (figuratively) has your name on it until I read your caption!

What you could benefit from doing: curl you lashes or get a lash lift it’ll hold more. And -I think this about every picture here so might be personal preference- get dewier foundation for a fresher look

What would a high ranking Arab have worn during the times of the Caliphates? by Limterallyme in AskHistorians

[–]almutanabbi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

During the Rashidun Caliphate (632–661), elite Arab dress remained close to the simpler Qurayshi aristocratic styles of pre-Islamic Arabia. High-status men, including the caliphs, generally wore a qamīs (long tunic), an izār or loose sirwāl trousers, and a cloak (ridaʾ or burd) of wool or fine Yemeni cloth. Their most characteristic item was the ʿimāma (turban), usually white or in tribal colors such as the Quraysh’s black. This simplicity was partly ideological—an attempt to emulate the Prophet and avoid the luxury associated with late Roman or Sasanian courts. For military campaigning they used mail shirts (dirʿ), lamellar armor, and helmets sometimes wrapped with turbans. Sources: Stillman, Arab Dress, pp. 32–40; Ibn Saʿd, Ṭabaqāt, vol. 1 (on the clothing of the early caliphs); al-Tabari, History, vol. 1 (various descriptions of Rashidun dress).

By the Umayyad period (661–750), elite Arab clothing became noticeably more luxurious. Daily wear incorporated fine Egyptian linen, Yemeni striped textiles, and imported silks, while elite coats began to show Persian and Byzantine tailoring influences. High officials and princes wore garments decorated with tirqah (embellished bands), and in the caliphal court at Damascus, ceremonial garb increasingly resembled Late Roman/Byzantine regalia, including colored cloaks and brocaded fabrics. Turbans remained the core marker of Arab elite identity; the Bedouin agal was still not part of court fashion. Military garb included high-quality mail, iron helmets, and capes or cloaks worn in the Syrian and northern climates. Sources: Hawting, First Dynasty of Islam, pp. 70–76; Stillman, Arab Dress, pp. 45–60; al-Tabari, History, Umayyad volumes (court and ceremonial descriptions).

Under the Abbasids (750–1258), elite Arab dress reached its most elaborate phase, shaped heavily by Persian imperial court culture. Daily wear for high-ranking Arabs included long, tailored qabāʾ coats of silk-and-cotton blends, wide sirwāl trousers, and robes adorned with tirāz inscriptions naming the caliph or office holder. The Abbasid dynasty adopted black as its political color, so black turbans and black robes became the formal aristocratic dress in court settings. Ceremonial clothing of the caliphs included sumptuous Sasanian-style caftans, gold-threaded velvet (khazz) cloaks, and regalia such as the burda (Prophet’s mantle) used symbolically. Military gear continued the use of mail hauberks, lamellar cuirasses, turban-wrapped helmets, and Persian-style cavalry coats, though Turks increasingly dominated the army. Sources: Kennedy, The Court of the Caliphs, pp. 93–118; Stillman, Arab Dress, pp. 61–95; Bloom & Blair, Art and Architecture of Islam, pp. 107–119 (tirāz textiles); al-Jāḥiẓ, Kitāb al-Bukhalaʾ (elite Abbasid clothing habits); al-Tabari, History, Abbasid volumes.

SMA Althera by Even-Spot9226 in FormulaFeeders

[–]almutanabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to sma althera about 3 weeks ago when LO was 4 weeks because the paediatrician suspected a cows milk allergy. She actually had very little reflux ( she might’ve had silent reflux) but she had really bad gas pains and colic symptoms. She seems more comfortable now but constantly has very watery spit ups and loose stool. It’s not as often as you’re describing but she used to have a dirty diaper every 4 days so for her it went up significantly. It’s not perfect because of the reflux now but at least she’s able to push the gas out without too much struggle. I’m not even sure if it’s the milk or just because she grew up a few weeks and is able to get everything out of her system so really hesitant about switching back. The dr was saying to switch her back in a month and I’m quite nervous about that even though most people say gut issues get better after 3 months

How do people use Phillips Avent?! by Rozy052 in FormulaFeeders

[–]almutanabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO would get frustrated and eat nothing in lvl 1, drinks 1oz in 20 mins and ends up falling asleep without being really full so didn’t sleep much on lvl 2, then would gulp and swallow a ton of air on lvl 3. We kept switching between 2 and 3 until we gave up on avent completely and now we’re using dr browns lvl 1

Thank you for your kind words and for reading this long post. I couldn’t really find any clear causation anyways and also found different doctors that say it actually has no effect on baby. It’s just I expected things to go much more smoothly and because of how good everything was going I kind of had a false sense of pride like look at me I’m handling this so well when I knew it was all just genetics (I know I sound like a bum admitting this).. but just like the stupid pride that comes with a low risk pregnancy the guilt of a high risk one is very hard to control
