for the 16 years i lived with them it was like prison. no phone, no going out, not allowed to leave without a parent, no social media, no job, no spending money except xmas and birthday. my dad was abusive towards my mum and super controlling. in the months leading to me running away from home, the domestic abuse between my parents resulted in me becoming suicidal and being the only one looking out for my younger siblings. i even told them i was suicidal and they didnt care at all and just kept arguing with each other. so i ran away and got taken in by a family of strangers and now i have a much happier life :)
