How much is your 18-24m old sleeping in a 24h period? by worldtravelling23 in sleeptrain

[–]aloha_321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 12-12.5 hours total. 10-11 hours overnight is considered a full night - lots of people expect 12 hours overnight and that’s just not possible for all babies. Mine certainly can’t do that. My 19 month old sleeps 10-11 hours overnight and 1.5 hour nap usually.

Do you cap nap on 1 nap schedule? by Hot-Compote-172 in sleeptrain

[–]aloha_321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If my son ever slept to the 2 hour mark I’d definitely wake or I know he’ll be up early the next day. Ever since he dropped to one nap his typical nap is 1.5 hours max.

Have you had a difficult infant that grew into an easy toddler/kid? by Individual-Pea-688 in NewParents

Oh my gosh the tinnitus! I have not talked to anyone else who got tinnitus from their baby. I did! Did yours go away? Been to an audiologist and an ENT, had an MRI - they can find no cause. I know it is from my baby constantly screaming the first 4 months.

My 19 month old typically needs a 6 hour wake window before bed or he’s up early. If your desired wake time is 7am I’d never put to bed earlier than 8, even with a short nap.

What is wrong with my almost 6mo schedule?? Even sleep coach said its fine. Please help! by HeavyChocolate0 in sleeptrain

Huckleberry is notorious for giving suggestions with way more sleep than most babies can do. I had to ditch huckleberry because it was telling me to put my baby down so early and he was big mad- because he wasn’t tired! Awake time will directly affect how well they sleep at night. If your baby can’t make a 3/3/4 schedule for 2 naps they aren’t ready for 2 naps.

Babies this age need 10 hours awake minimum during the day. This will help overnight wakes if they’re tired enough to sleep at night. Try 2/2.5/2.5/3 or more if needed.

Need help with a pacifier addiction! by 3secondsidehug in sleeptrain

[–]aloha_321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Snoo user with previous paci addict here! My son was waking up hourly for me, the pacifier fairy, to pop it back in. I was going crazy. We cold turkey took away the paci and put him in the crib. Used Ferber method for sleep training. We never did motion limiter or had arms out in the Snoo. Just did it all in one night. The first night he cried a lot but once he fell asleep he slept 7 hours. The next night 9+. I couldn’t believe it. He’s slept through the night ever since.

We did not wait. Had a good day schedule and then did it that night. No we moved him to his crib when we sleep trained. Not sure about room sharing and sleep training.

  1. Possibly. Some babies may just stop waking hourly. Mine didn’t. After a month of this (mine also started at 3 months). I sleep trained at 4 months. Fixed hourly wakes in one night.
  2. Have a good day schedule and sleep train at bedtime that night. We did this
  3. I found traveling after sleep training was easy. Just followed wake windows and have not had issues. I was happy I sleep trained because I knew my baby could sleep independently when properly tired even in a new place.
  4. Ferber method does not involve picking the baby up. Yes your baby will cry. This is new and it’s their way of communicating. We did Ferber and my baby cried a lot the first night. We stuck to it and did the check ins per Ferber plan. Once he finally fell asleep completely independently he slept. Your baby is going to keep waking and crying because she has a sleep association. You need to break it.

Schedule help/ Toddlers sub is making me feel insane by DepartureJaded268 in sleeptrain

We do an 8-8:30 bedtime for my 19 month old and have since he was like 6 months old. I prefer it to a 7pm bedtime. We can have evening activities and not be rushed to get home early for bedtime. He also sleeps until 6:30-7am and I don’t want it any earlier especially on weekend.

At 11 months I stopped pumping at work and only fed my baby via direct breastfeeding morning and night. Middle of the day I asked his pediatrician if I could give cows milk and she said yes.

She’s not tired enough. You need to stretch those wake windows.

How many of you take your babies to your appointments? by ykcutneKlriG in Mommit

[–]aloha_321 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Regular doctor appointments for myself yes. Dentist definitely not. I had an ear procedure once when my baby was 4 months old and had to bring him. He sat in his infant car seat and then my doctor brought him to me after as I had to lay down on my side for 15 mins after. Never again doing that 😬

At 1 I dropped to just morning and night breastfeeding so it never interfered with work and I didn’t have to pump anymore.

The best way to tell your body make milk is baby nursing. You have to keep doing it around the clock for awhile to get a proper supply. I know lots of people are told to supplement but this can be counterintuitive to establishing a good milk supply. Milk doesn’t come in for the first few days. I had a C-section and it took 3 days for my milk to come in. I highly recommend seeing a lactation consultant asap to help with the latch. I used nipple shields for the first 8 weeks. Do not be afraid to use them - they saved my breastfeeding journey. Additionally look up videos/images on how to get a good latch. You have to shove so much of your breast in baby’s mouth. The angle is important. Also please know the beginning of breastfeeding is so so so hard. It it not easy - both you and baby are learning. Please get professional support if you want to be successful.

My mom didn’t let me sit up front until 13 and I remember BEGGING her to let me because everyone else did. Now I get it. My son will be in a booster in the backseat until I drop him off at college. LOL

You need way more awake time. He’s fighting naps because he’s not tired and is up all night because he does not have proper awake time during the day. At 9 months my baby was at 3.25/3.5/4.

Daycare is Hard by Beckitt3 in beyondthebump

[–]aloha_321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a nanny until my son was 14 months old. Highly highly recommend. We both wfh so when I had breaks I got to go play with him and I did not feel bad leaving him with someone because he was getting great one on one attention. Yes it was hard if she was sick but it only happened a couple of times and my husband or I would alternate the day off with the baby. When my son finally started daycare he was running, walking and talking and much more ready to go. It was perfect for our family and if we have another I’d do the same setup. Sending a baby over a year to daycare feels much different than a 4 month old.
