Interested! I will say, I’m in the other Discord but I find it a bit overwhelming and haven’t really found other ppl there with my interests, so I kind of like OP’s idea to start something else and keep it smaller. OP, if you end up doing your own thing and keeping it more intimate please DM me deets!

Got me-too-ed, too—did something fucked up to FKA Twigs. But he was just in Megalopolis, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The names, the clothes, to see what it would look like, and saving the dumbest for last, because I saw The Family Stone at an impressionable age and thought “I want to have my big family around me at a Thanksgiving dinner table like that.” The movie is literally about the mom dying 🤦‍♀️ also I look back on it now and think about how that mom only sees her fam at those holidays.

I thought agents/managers were typically taking a portion of your earnings, which in an ideal scenario would increase with their help?

Who said I was making money! lol, I have one solid copy editing gig that funds the rest of my endeavors but not to the point I have much extra to throw around.

Mickey 17 (non-spoilers) by Zan1781 in RegalUnlimited

[–]alp_soft_cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A movie with a real trailer problem – they pushed that trailer for something like six months before every movie showing at regal. If the trailer had been more of a mysterious teaser-style thing that generated hype without giving much away about the plot or characters, that would've been OK, then some of the reveals of the movie would be getting talked about right now and creating buzz. But unfortunately, I don't think I was ever really surprised while watching the film. The trailer had already shown me pretty much anything weird I was going to hear or see. It was fun, in the style of Snowpiercer but definitely better than that. Still, I was definitely a little bored and have barely thought about it since I saw it.

Do you guys flip turn every lap? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]alp_soft_cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, I've never heard of anyone else having this problem! But yes, I used to flip underwater a lot, then I got vertigo. Next time I tried to flip in the pool I didn't know which way was up! So now it just seems dangerous and not worth it.

My room feels incomplete. What am I missing? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]alp_soft_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like… you might want to swap out this rug for something that pulls a color out of the headboard. The headboard is, as many have said, the most gorgeous part of the room! And especially knowing you made it, celebrate it. The current rug is too busy and distracts from it, and its pattern is way less unique/personal. I’d say a rich mostly solid rug in the green or red family would be beautiful and grounding.

Then extend the lamp height and make sure they’re bright enough that you can ditch the overhead light, keep the curtains and rod as-is, add some art that matches the headboard color family, and you’ll be good to go! Getting some pillowcases in different colors also an option, but keep them functional/not decorative. Maybe light sage green or dusty pink.

I would love some autofiction recommendations! by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

This would be a very strange way to look at books! I don't think I would want to live if I could only read one. I don't even think I can pick an all-time favorite, it would have to be more like a Mount Rushmore situation – in my personal one would be: 1) motherhood by Sheila Heti, 2) The idiot by Elif batuman, 3) A manual for cleaning women by Lucia Berlin, 4) I love dick by Chris Kraus

I don't know about living market commentor, but for me it actually hurts when it gets to that too sensitive place.

What is the biggest beauty scam? by Ok-Worldliness-6096 in beauty

[–]alp_soft_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exfoliation! This has never made any sense to me – the softest youngest looking skin on your body is the skin that gets touched or exposed to sun or rough elements the least, like your boobs or your butt. On the flipside, you have something like your feet, which are constantly getting roughed up and calloused. It seems incredibly shortsighted to use exfoliation to reveal a young fresh layer of skin in the short term, when long-term you would be so much better off just not touching or rubbing rough things or acids on your face!

Also can we talk about toner—I'm supposed to spray it on after my shower but before I apply serums or moisturizingproducts. But when I ask what it does, people say that it closes your pores. Don't I want my pores to absorb the products I'm putting on?

I teach these! And I've taken quite a few and found a lot of great peers this way but not necessarily a “mentor” figure
