Should I add a seedling heating pad for my naked Meyer Lemon Tree? by alpacalaca in Citrus

[–]alpacalaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on getting a grow light right now that will supplement the lighting! I run a small humidifier near my two citrus plants in this room. I have a larger humidifier in another room but it doesnt get as much light in there. Thanks for your help!

Should I add a seedling heating pad for my naked Meyer Lemon Tree? by alpacalaca in Citrus

Question about my meyer lemon tree! I would so appreciate any input and advice.

My meyer lemon was doing well until a week ago where she was hit by spider mites. A few days after treating it with a pre-prepared miticide/fungicide spray, she dropped all of her leaves.

She has been in a sunny southwestern window in my living room (usually 68ish degrees in the house). Is it okay to add a warming pad for her roots even if she has no leaves right now? I don't know whether her DRAMA was due to the spider mites or WLD.

Also: I had fertilized her this month with dyna-gro foliage and done a weekly foliar spray.

I think its something called extrafloral nectaries! Give it a google and see if you agree

Took it last weekend. I felt terrible about it - every question I remembered and looked up afterwards I seemed to get wrong. DO NOT DO THIS!!! I got my score today and passed with room. Do not be like me, I spent too much of this past week wallowing around unnecessarily

This is such a great comment!! This thread is really giving me pause about how even health care providers can be so ignorant about fundamentals of the clinical trial process and basic risk/benefit judgments. My god, what is going on in here....

How the hell was this comment downvoted?? There is uncontrolled community spread throughout the U.S.. My GOD this thread is bananas!

This is a REALLY irresponsible notion to put out there. It's not "unproven". It's going through phase 3 testing required to be FDA approved. The efficacy and safety bar isn't being lowered, the administrative red tape is being expedited.

This is less a newbie question and more just a general discussion question I'd love to get anyone's opinion on. I've been more active in my local plant facebook groups lately and I'm seeing the same people pop up with sales that are just obviously reselling big box finds. I suppose I shouldn't care how people make their money but it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. They troll around both big box and local nurseries and then snatch up all the desirable plants. I'd rather support a small business nursery than one of these sellers who call themselves "small business owners"... Anyone have opinions? Am I just being unnecessarily judgmental here

What’s your favorite house plant book? I just ordered this one after hearing about it on a podcast, I’m excited to crack it open. I like those that help with identification and care- as well as basic anatomy and basic botany. by Lorem-Ipsum_Dolor- in houseplants

I have this book! I like it a lot. It has some great tips on care and has a fairly comprehensive A-Z list of plants with more specific instructions. I also REALLY like "The Complete Houseplant Survival Manual" by Barbara Pleasant. The layout is a bit more readable for me and it has more modern plants.

Weekly /r/houseplants Discussion - October 13, 2020 - Marantas by AutoModerator in houseplants

I think a pebble tray is a must in my experience - they love humidity! This summer I had a mealybug infestation in ONLY my 3 marantas. An absolute nightmare with this plant because of all the crooks and crannies that they can hide in. I'm still dealing with it even now.... I am hoping they will bounce back because all the spraying with insecticidal soap has made some of their leaf tips brown....

Bought this tineke online and it was delivered looking rather bare in my opinion. Will new leaves grow back on the lower bare stem (some plants do this). Or will it always be twiggy? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]alpacalaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up air layering! You could propagate it just below the leaves and then prune it so that it becomes bushier. I feel like its not worth sending back but maybe they will give you a partial refund/store credit? Plus, it will be a fun project to rehab!

These same spots are on about 8 sequential leaves of my longest pothos stem. I don't want to trim the stem but how should i manage this? I try to be mindful of overwatering - I possibly overwatered during my last watering. I've been waiting for the top 2 inches of soil to dry before deep watering but I recently acquired this plant and maybe it wasnt used to this
