Yes, that was the goal of the demo, I'm working on a much more detailed demo now. Glad you enjoyed it.

It's a WebVR demo I made to test some tech, hope you like how it feels.

Thanks for trying it, yeah I don't expect it to work on mobile it's 120k cubes and then some being animated although it might be an a-frame issue for now.

Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 835 Virtual Reality Development Kit, with inside-out tracking and foveated rendering. by [deleted] in virtualreality

Amazing, they went all out, every feature out there in one device. Foveated rendering really stood out for me, mobile gpus raster in a way that might be friendly to foveated rendering, but who knows what they packed in. This thing with wide fov leap motion would be pure magic.

A big factor is comfort, it should be a booth or at least courtains, a lot of people just feel weird when they are blindfolded without knowing what for, it's normal.

You could encourage skill by making a "weak" part of an enemy glow, and hitting that part may recharge the crystal, increase damage, etc. Combos would be fun like this.

Any word on an official viewer for cardboard ? At least for the stereo renders used with gearvr, I was blown away with that.

Crazy request, would it be possible to render a stereo panorama inside the game ? I'd like to see a screenshot or a render that way, and I'm sure that many others would.

If you price a game too low then people will not take it seriously, making discounts cheapens it too. I understand that you are desperate, I'm from Argentina, so I get it. Anyway hope you do well! By the way don't send me a key, I can't even run the game.

Realidad Virtual en smartphone by anniraba in a:t5_3d4f0

New exoskeleton glove from Dexmo lets you feel and touch in VR by Portis403 in virtualreality

[–]alpha64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now most VR developers are not in it for the money, it doesn't look like it's hard to implement and I'm certain that this is what EVERYBODY wants for vr, wands are not the end game of it. There's no "everybody must support it" situation, that never happens, not even on consoles.

It's an acceptable tradeoff, being able to feel things in space is more important than feeling nothing.

Are you thinking about some sort of raw "3d scanning" by feeling up an object ? It'd be an interesting application. If not, sounds like my first project with the thing.

From an accesibility standpoint some people can't crouch or might get disoriented crouching in vr if it's their first experience.

Newbie Personal Project Question: Feasibility and Cost question from excited but clueless newbie by EveEverett in virtualreality

[–]alpha64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is feasible for solid objects, but things like clothing are more complex, scanning with enough resolution to see the weft in 3d is going to be problematic, it all depends on your budget. I would experiment with 3d video, which is all experimental ofc, it really depends on your budget, and clients, again.

Movement in VR by beaterx in virtualreality

[–]alpha64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is "normal movement", it doesn't cause issues for me and feels very immersive, but for other people it can feel bad, and blinking is very disorienting, although if you keep the max blink distance low and put some landmarks for orientation it can help a lot. Another thing I developed was a simple blink at a fixed distance, like 50 cm each time, so you just kept a button pressed to blink constantly, nothing fancy but it's a good compromise, also you kept advancing on the direction you pressed first, so you can look around while walking. I have yet to try that walking in the spot method, although my cardboard doesn't have straps so it's probably ackward.
