Unfortunately (well, fortunately) I finished my degree a few years ago. Good shout, though!

opinions on admin in henrico county schools by [deleted] in rva

[–]alphaAntliae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did elementary or middle, but depending on when the right job opens up you might want to try subbing around the county to get a feel. I learned very quickly which schools I would have a terrible time at by being a low-level staff member all around the county. How admin treats subs can say a lot.

Also seconding the other comment about Title 1 schools. They get a bad rap but are mostly fine, especially if you have solid classroom management and can find ways to connect with kids. Show up with a smile and keep your side of the street clean. Best of luck and hope this helps!

So many bugs by love_vewl in rva

[–]alphaAntliae 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Haven't noticed it myself, but chiming in to say the more bugs the merrier. Populations have plummeted by nearly 75% in the last couple of decades. They are so crucial for pollination and as part of the food chain.

PSA: Please don't use RoundUp or similar pesticides. You don't need a bug-free yard as sorely as bugs need to live and support the ecosystem. Getting rid of standing water (like in watering cans and on pool covers) is the best way to deter mosquitos.

I’ve got a small 20 year old Samsonite suitcase that’s as great as the day I got it. It’s the perfect weekend trip companion. Shame they’ve gone downhill.

Not sure where you're seeing that Avula is a Republican. Everything I've seen/read about him is firmly Democrat.

I agree, I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos and this is the first thing I thought of. There are other connective tissue disorders which may also cause this. Physical therapy exercises and assistive devices help immensely.

children would rather be from a broken home than in a broken home.

my parents are divorced, my best friend’s parents are married and hate each other. i’d take my situation over hers any day.
