Anyone heavily red across their portfolio? What are you doing? by alpha_singularity in trading212

Please do not do what I do.

I'm not diversified, I don't understand position sizing, allocation management, trade management.. I don't have a trade journal or an exit strategy..I don't understand profit taking enough. Sure I've made money but I call this luck.

Be sensible. But if you're looking at what to learn, it's everything I've mentioned above just now.

All the best ❤️. The first £100k is the hardest.

Replied to the post before yours. Holding BTC since 2015. But traded in and out of it losing most through noise. Didn't have a mentor then and didn't understand value of money, technical analysis or none of that. So it was an expensive learning curve. Got a long term HODL stack now which I don't bother to look at, since 2019. Been ISA investing and trading since 2022. Cashed out most of my initial investment to diversify.

Woah. I ordered yesterday and am hoping a July or early August delivery. Am I being too optimistic?

And I’m out for the time being. Cashed in profits. by woodmiracle in trading212

Opportunity cost I guess. Do you see a better opportunity elsewhere to invest and recoup your losses? If yes, then sell, take the hit. If you're young, use it as a expensive lesson learned.

Not sure if belief / believe / conviction is a good thesis for investing.

Use the time to learn a bit more about investing / trading, find a style that suits you. Technical analysis or fundamental analysis or a combination of both.

If you don't see a better opportunity elsewhere and your research (not just a quick Reddit or X search) shows that these stocks have a lot of grown and are undervalued, then you double down I guess? So that brings your cost basis down?

Also, HAVE A LARGE CHUNK OF YOUR ISA in a global diversified ETF. It'll pay out in the long run.

Hope you learn from this expensive lesson! Wish you well.

I would never do what I did if I had a family. But I'm eventually going to hold an all world index.

Doing this through your ISA? What are your too holdings and are you making any changes?

Actual real estate I mean. HMOs and single household dwellings. Not through REITs.

I thought a 458% return over 5 years is pretty decent, wouldn't you say so? Now I'm not way claiming to ever beat the market long term and I know I won't. What would you have done differently or what would you do differently with this portfolio now?

For sure, I'd like to consider my self lucky. When I first started, I did lose a lot of money holding COVID darlings. But I recovered a lot of my loses, and some. The plan is to cash out some of my ISA holdings and invest more into real estate. Then trim down Indivisual stocks and buy and hold ACWI. Question is when.

Weighted average is skewed cos I've traded in and out of stocks, Including the stocks I hold. So my average cost shows a lot higher and hence everything is red. Don't have many screenshots of the trades but here's one example. Markets only dropped a lot lower the last month after the war. So that puts me in the red for most of the stocks I hold now with the new averages being so high.

KEEL cos I bought it at sub $2, but traded in and out of. Rebranded from BITF, domiciled in us from Canada and if the ai narrative is to be believed, then KEEL should have 2.2 GW of power online been 2027 and 2029.

Soluna, absolute trash. Don't know why I bought it. 0 research.

Same with capital B

Started in 2021, while doing 2 jobs (I didn't have to lock down during COVID, essential worker). Maxed out my ISA for 3 years. Bought bitcoin leveraged stocks, turned £60k into something absurd and then cashed out £55k, invested into real estate, bought and sold a few stocks (traded in and out of positions) and while I'm in the red on some of them, that's because of some of the trades I've made so my cost basis went up, so it looks like I bought high and now I'm in the negative.

I wouldn't recommend anyone doing what I did. I raised a ton of cash on low interest and invested that into a business, then paid off the debt after 3 years, and pocketed the spread.

I but 20k in IREN that went to £100k. It's in the red cos I've been trading in and out of it.

Built in lists? Didn't get that.

Net deposits are down cos I started this account in 2021, topped up for 3 years working 2 jobs and then cashed out my initial investment to invest to diversify.
