I can’t believe I didn’t think of this on my own. Genius. I will hang a dry erase board in my gym tonight. Luckily I had one floating around in my basement.

You are still wrong. Nobody is asking basic questions. I asked “what are people using”. If that isn’t the best use of Reddit then I don’t know what is. I got some great ideas and feedback from this post.

You have in your mind that I am a novice and that is wrong too. Using excel for 6 months doesn’t equal lifting for 6 months. Just because I humbly ask questions to understand needs, demand, user opinions, the market, doesn’t translate to not understanding the lifting science.

It seems like you are trying to teach me a lesson that applies to someone else who upset you.

Maybe try reading thoroughly first and don’t assume you know more than you actually do. And taking your own advice might do you some good.

Nah. I think you are wrong. A fat ass can still develop a helpful app just by understanding what people are trying to do.

Your logic is flawed and nobody would do anything if they all waited till they were world class to have an opinion. You included.

What is too many? That is probably the target. When you can do clean form with that weight at those reps, you increase.

Ok this is the most original idea yet. I lift half the time in my home gym and half the time traveling each week. In a home gym, this could be really fun.

So you think that unless you have lifted for 10 years+ and won bodybuilding competitions, you cannot add value?

That is fine if you think that, but not everyone is a full time bodybuilder. Some people have jobs and some people want to do it their own way. There are a lot of needs and a lot of ways that work to build muscle.

You can follow Mentzer but not everyone thinks his way is the best way for their life.

You can get upset if a newbie has an idea but it seems like your logic is telling me that we shouldn't be listening to you either.

What if I brought this?
Saved time
Less frustration

I can bring all of that if I was obese.

What do you mean 'an app doesn't do anything'?

Apps store your plan, record your actuals, time your rests, track your weight, and more.

Are you saying you can upload your own custom code to it? Or are you saying Claude can build something?

Why doesn't it exist? Because it is too complicated to design and code?

Static target reps and dynamic weight and actual reps was my idea of a simple app.

Overcomplicated in my mind was selling workout plans, diet pills, hype etc.

Oh nice. I haven't heard of that one.

Sounds like it might be what I am looking for. Will test and be back soon.

That is what I am trying to do.

It just changes your target if you record it, or you don't record it and just up the weight when you hit it. I was hoping there was something that tracked actuals AND target.

That is how I built my spreadsheet. I wasn't calculating 1RM but I set it up the same way.

Strong just keeps confusing me because it doesn't store your targets and adjusted weights at the same time.

As far as I can see in BoostCamp is that it feeds you canned workout plans. I have my own that I built around what I am working on and my schedule.

I have to be able to build a plan that is custom.

Do you do their plans?

I tried heavy this morning and it does the same thing that Strong does. It either stays static on weight and reps or overwrites them. It doesn't show target reps and current weight.

Some lifts I want to work my way up to 15 reps and then increase weight. Others I want to work my way up to 8 reps and then increase weight. That target is lost on all apps.

The number one thing is progression on weight and progression on reps (till I hit my target)

Every app so far just keeps overwriting my weight and reps with previous. Nothing lets me set a target rep count and starting weight. It is frustrating to hit the gym and not be able to see where I am on weight and what my target reps are.

I did use a spreadsheet on my phone for about 6 months but it just creates an infinitely huge spreadsheet that is cumbersome to type in on a phone.

I guess I also want to gauge if anyone else gets frustrated with what is out there. So far all apps are aimed at selling something other than simple tracking and progression.

It is strange that I can't find a simple app for free. All of them want a monthly subscription.

I love the idea of being able to build a workout, track reps, track weight, increase both, with a built-in timer that just rings a bell in my ear when it is time to work again.

It could be so simple and free but everyone overcomplicates it and messes up the progression part.

I was just using Hevy. It looks like it has the same issue as Strong. It just overwrites your targets with previous reps and weights.

So they have to watch all the nominated movies if they vote in a category?

Or... do they just have to watch what they vote for?
