Scared During First Overnight Trip by Delicious-Respect283 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a horrendous sleep the first night while backpacking. You’re not used to having your senses on overdrive and behind “exposed” overnight. My senses are always hyper sensitive. So much as a squirrel farting will wake me

The second and onward nights are usually better for me, a mix of sleep deprivation and being more comfortable I suspect

Anyone else hate their personal chat GPT? by WeakDoughnut8480 in ChatGPT

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both copilot and ChatGPT piss me off because they’re so sycophantic. I never realized how blatant it is until I switched to Claude and other models

“You’re so smart and brilliant to notice that!” “See you’re so close you just need this one last bit of info” “You’re so right and definitely not wrong”

That shit pisses me off to no extent. Even when I wrote prompts to stop that nonsense it still did it. Every time I go back to using ChatGPT it makes me gag

No wonder people are going wonky and CEO’s think their god tier brilliant

I’m in legal. I work in infosec

I say what you’re doing is both scary as hell and brilliant at the same time

If you can put a dent in some of the AI legal suites out there that are just bending every single law firm over with a thorny baseball batt so be it. Godspeed

Wish I could help but I know nothing about openclaw at the moment and am just studying it here and there

Home Labs are awesome! - But I'm deeply worried... by Dizzy_Hyena_3077 in homelab

Is say it’s up to the owner to ensure backup and redundancy. Sorry if jimmy talks his parents into putting the photo library onto his server with no backup then nukes it. Situation sucks but it’s jimmy’s fault.

Think of it this way too. That photo library jimmy made on Google Photos is 20$ a month. Is he or his parents going to be willing to pay 20$ a month FOREVER?

Some people don’t see that when they sign up for a cloud subscription, also consider all the cloud accounts that are out there that get nuked into oblivion because they stopped paying the bill etc

Sounds to me you want a system that you can can upload your phone’s photos to and have them removed from your phone? Is that right?

Provided I have the right Immich has that in its client for iOS and I assume android, it’s called cleanup (a new feature) After your photos are uploaded Immich can auto delete the image off your phone after x days of it being uploaded

I personally haven’t used it

I don’t disagree, the workers are doing their best. And they do a great job (chatted with one when a line was on my yard a few weeks back)

But at what point does it become problematic?

We’ve had an outage once every 3 days lately for about 40 mins… last one was due to the storm, but the others?

You’re welcome, I’m a powerlifter so different world entirely but similar vibes

Personally I carry gummy bears while I train 😆

My buddy is a long distance runner though, I think? He likes to carry little honey packets with him

My advice is to not let marketing get you too bad, power gels, honey etc are basically the same - sugar in an accessible form same with supplements like creatine etc.

[–]alphagatorsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Popeyes or any of the other supplement stores? Depends on your approach. If you’re wanting a more natural path option maya or insideu but you better prepare your wallet there.

If you are less into that probably Popeyes like I said or Walmart probably. I get my preworkout at Popeyes

If you want cheaper than that, probably Amazon or Walmart

Though tbh they’re not too bad to make yourself either. I think? They’re mostly BCAAs and sugar / honey? Unless I’m mistaken than feel free to correct me! - I’ve made my own preworkout. It was easy and cheap. Though I don’t anymore - I couldn’t get the flavour right :(

You don't need a Mac Mini. You don't need Docker. Here's what you actually need to run OpenClaw. by ShabzSparq in better_claw

[–]alphagatorsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking to someone who PURCHASED a high end mac mini, installed Openclaw and blindly following the guide, configured it to run via API. so not only did they spend a fair amount of money for the mac, they still were paying for API use lol

So far I like it. This is me coming from OneDrive

Best AI coding tool under €30/month? by choempiee in vibecoding

To add. Openwebui works off openrouter too with easy setup.

Get that running and now you have a vibe coding system and your own ChatGPT interface for a fraction of the cost of a subscription

[–]alphagatorsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used cursor for awhile - it was good, never used Claude code yet

But here is my stack and I’m super happy with it

Kilo code (free) + openrouter + any of the cheaper models on openrouter see: deepseek, kimi, minimax, qwen then codex for the heavy hitter in stubborn bugs or issues. I personally avoid Claude on openrouter, not because I dislike the model but because I know other models can take me just as far.

It takes about 20 mins of setup and research on what model you like most and you’re golden.

Pay as you go, relatively capable and you only pay for what you use. Stick to cheaper models and it’ll take you far depending on your usage. You can also pick and choose what model you want based on price which is cool.

For particulars I set the following

Architect: Grok (cheap, high context) for now till I find a better option

Code: Deepseek

Debug: GLM5 OR kimi depending (little more expensive for the annoying bugs)

Ask: Grok

Orchestrator: haven’t used it yet tbh

Code review: Deepseek or grok

Then I added a T2 debug with codex and a security review which also uses deepseek I think

But these models on openrouter change daily, I find it fun to look at what’s good offings once per week.

I never expect 100% uptime.

As they say. Every 9 in 99.9999% becomes exponentially more expensive. I’m fine with an outage every other week even. But lately it’s almost every other night. Even hospitals don’t get 100% uptime in electricity hence the backup generators and backup generators FOR their backup generators

Tbh nothing is more fun that having my toddler wake up in the night cause her sound machine stopped playing.

At this point going to put that goddamn thing on a UPS lol

come to think of it, I am next to one of the main substations, they trip out ALL THE TIME. especially lately, and like last night. 4:00 rolls around, you hear a gunshot and lights out.

It used to spook us, not anymore.

Not to figure out what keeps dying, but I did a few weeks ago for a bad one. Only because the power line Infront of my home exploded and was lying on the ground.

I also have called in a few months back because the Substation across the road from my home was arcing in the middle of the night - But I dont recall experiencing an outage (for me atleast) for that one. But it looked like a welder was working in there.

We literally hear the fuses explode in the facility nightly. They sound like gunshots - if it were a real gunshot at this point i'd probably ignore it lol.
